Wow, so this definitely did not work for me. After everything seemed to be going fine, once the JVM was donw, it said it could not finish and then my phone no longer functioned. I am about to try and go back to the old OS. I was so excited to check out the new on, but after the last couple hours of this crap, I'll just ait fo the official release.

How did the third party backup/restore go?? And if you can provide me with the path of the restore file for the third party apps in a post on the thread... then others will be able to refer to it as well!!
Well, it never prompted me to upgrade. I guess it was because I was using the last beta and the official release from Tim are the same thing. Right?

So I'm ready to install the 4.5 beta. I read through your guide and I just have one question before I do this. I get a warning that says I will need to active the phone wirelessly to continue to send and receive messages and use other Blackberry features. Does that just mean I need to turn data connection back on as was mentioned in one of the posts in your guide thread?

I made most of the changes in bold, added some links, etc

Please note : There are many variations to this install process and some steps are not necessary. Specifically, steps 2 and 10 for third party apps

Are you sure nothing will happen wrong with my phone #1. Also do you think it is worth the upgrade for risk or reward,(considering i dont have internet on my phone). does the o.s. look nicer by like themes and picture quality of phone, etc.

If you do not have a data plan, personally I don't think you should even bother with upgrading unless you need the video recorder function.

5) Remove all old OSes
I just upgraded to .77, and I see that .56 is in the "removed files" folder; however, it is still located in the loader files. Do I delete that one too? .77 already installed on my bb without a hitch.
