I guess I found out what's going on. Vista uses UAC (User Account Control), in order for loader.exe to be able to update to a new OS, you have to invoke it as an administrator (right button, run as administrator). I've found out that if you invoke it normally, it works, (shows you the ports) but doesn't let you do the upgrade. So I went to Control Panel and Disabled UAC, and it worked fine. Haven't tried yet enabling UAC again. I'll try it sometime this week.

Hi, I´m running Vista SP1 never had trouble testing new betas, i've been all over them. Right now Im using DM 5.0 and OS 4.6.0.266 for BOLD. After some traveling back and forth between 5.0 and .266, my problem is that when I try to connect through the loader.exe wizard, I get NO available COMM Port, and the Detect Checkmark is Grayed, as if my computer had no COMM ports. Now, to avoid waste of time for you guys and me, I'll tell you everything I ALREADY Did: any combination of batt pull, resetting computer, reinstalling OS, deleting vendor.xml, Everything. The fact I'm posting here means I have tried ALL Solutions given in every forum. But they all take for granted the fact that there ARE COMM ports available, which is NOT my case.

It's as IF the COMM Port configuration of my PC got Screwed. The funny thing is that JLCmder and DM connect perfectly to my BB, even the software update worked just fine from DM, and got perfect Communications through JLCmder.

I guess somehow my registry is Corrupted somewhere, related to COMMx port use. Can somebody provide me with info on this ? how to refresh COMM port definitions, some troubleshooting tips ?
