Quick OS6 UPGRADE GUIDE
Sweet! Thank you sirs!
Here's my short-version OS install guide before the questions come...
ELITE1's Quick OS6 UPGRADE GUIDE
- (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from your PC.
- Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer to do so, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, the browser is irrelevant though.)
- Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
- On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
- Go through any 3rd party apps that have option to save settings to media card, and conduct Backup to media card from menu within each of these apps. (Examples: all Bellshare apps such as BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps such as Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; Show Me The Images; etc).
- Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
- (Optional) Use desktop program like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
- On PC, navigate to
•64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
•32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor. - (Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss or Shrink-A-OS/BBHybrids Tool.
- In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click on Loader to initiate OS upgrade. Follow onscreen instructions.

Didnt work with just the regular .cod files added to the OS, but trying the bbapi files as well via bbsak
I had the icon but wouldn't launch
:update:
net_rim_bbapi_blackberrymessenger.cod
and
net_rim_bbapi_contactlinking.cod *not sure if this is required but i added it anyway
AND IT WORKS!
(use thse files above from 6.1.0.44)Last edited by lyricidal; 04-02-2011 at 06:56 PM.

thought this would hit the front page? Just browsing and found me a nice little present for tonight. Cheers! I'll post how it acts. 486 has been slow as **** for me, always pausing at most things, taking forever to shuffle from one mp3 to the next just to name a few. And when will they make thier mind up about ringtones coming through your headphones or not? Sometimes it does, other times it does not!! It's been like that for every torch os!

hope mine is isolated experience but signing into bb app world and bb protect is painfully slow. one cosmetic change: charging lightening bold is static while on the home screen; it flashes over the battery icon when it appears over an application. sorry but i'll be hard pressed to notice anything more substantial.

Not sure about everyone else, but I'm at restore device data and it's hanging at the BBTraffic Connection Manager Restore Process. It hasn't moved in maybe 10-15 minutes.
If I used SmrtGuard to backup EVERYTHING, including 3rd party apps prior to running the upgrade, since I'm up to the Restore process, would it be safe to unplug/disconnect/stop it mid-process and just restore everything through SmrtGuard.
OR,
Should I disconnect, first wipe the device using BBSAK then attempt to reinstall the OS again?
Additional Info: I used BBBoss to shrink the OS prior to stating the upgrade process.Marc K.

Does this leak have Rims signature associated with it, 486 did not?
Has anyone used blackberry protect to restore back up?
Looks like desktop manager will upgrade this leak, anyone try this yet, or is apploader recomended?Last edited by Dadymon; 04-02-2011 at 08:30 PM.

[Follow-up]
I disconnected the device, opened the BB Desktop Manager, found the backup file created during installation, selected manual instead of ALL, removed BBTraffic from the list, and started restore process.
Now it's back up and running. All my apps appear to be present and accounted for.Marc K.
