The menu issue I raised earlier appears to be a change in the OS... As mentioned by another user the menu option only appears when an application or folder is highlighted.
I can now say I have folders back, don't know how iPhone users survived without folder!!! It was only half a day and it was already driving me nuts

1st full day with 486 - still no noticeable difference in performance over .450. And still no bugs. Battery life seems to be better, tho. Battery started draining faster with .450, but now is definitely holding up better like it was before that.

Coming from and compared to.448, there is a decided lag in the photo thumbnail displays. it's horrible. I don't know whether it's only after a reboot, but even if it is, .448 didn't have that problem. (EDIT: turns out this is only during the scan after the new OS initially encounters the photos on the SD card. Subsequent post-reboot scans of the entire SD card are still slower than .448 overall.)
Also, wifi music sync is still not working. This started with .448. Ir worked fine with all builds up until then (and RIM has since updated wifi music sync, but that did nothing).

I had this installed last night right after it came out..
After my first batt pull, the OS was corrupt and the loading bar would go 100% but the phone wouldn't load...Taking the memory card out got the main screen to load, but things were all over the place.
Finally just wiped the device with BBSAK and reloaded the OS and it worked....
After one day of use and a few batt pulls, i only got about 5 hours worth of battery out of it. Also found a few things kinda weird so I reverted back to .448 - 03-12-2011, 12:00 AM #133
I have to say this build is a major step up from .450. I noticed improved speed and smoothness throughout the entire OS. Very happy to note there is no longer and BBM lag. Browser seems a bit quicker, smoother scrolling as well. Picture scrolling is no longer laggy, but does show a black screen for about a second on every third or fourth picture you browse through.
Very happy with the update, I would highly recommend it to anyone on an older OS.
EDIT: Also battery life seems to be about the same as I had on .450, maybe a tiny bit better, will monitor Meterberry and update.White Torch 9800 - OS .486

After 30hrs of .486. Coming from .450 Noticed
1. Browser faster
2. No lag on photos or music scrolling
3. Photos look better (not so pixilated)
4. Battery life better ( with .450 I'd have 45-55% when I plugged in @ night, so far today I'm @ 75% with same amount of use)
Recommend DL for everyone

Um...I'm on .450 right now and I only have around 130MB free. My Browser apparently is taking a whopping 129.1MB of memory. I've cleared the Cache, History, and Cookies, and used the memory cleaning utility, but my Browser still shows around the same usage/only 130MB free in general. Is it just time for a battery pull? Does the browser usually use a lot of memory? And is there a quick way to clear the browser's memory usage without a battery pull? Just wondering. - 03-12-2011, 05:30 AM #138
Further to my earlier posts, I have now discovered that my media card is corrupt. I have tried reformatting it in the device which it says was successful but when I try to click use media card it tells me it is either not formatted or corrupt.
I don't have a card reader for my laptop so I can't put it in that and reformat it, anyone got any ideas how I can fix this?

The only difference I see for sure is picture leg. I am coming from the leaked 448. Battery life? It might be marginally better. The browser feels the same for me.
Capture it doesn't work when I have the browser open. I'm not sure if that is new though. I wish I wouldn't have changed OS

Can anyone varify if spell check works in web browsing?
Ex: posting on CB wap site, does spell check work?
I'm on .450 and haven't read any compelling reason to load this build - 03-12-2011, 08:13 AM #141

My thoughts on .486 vs .450 are that it certainly is not worse than .450.
I've seen a lot of different posted results, but my pictures don't lag as much on this build as they did on .450 (and it wasn't terrible on .450 either). The browser seems to be snappier. The battery seems the same (but it's only been a day, so too hard for anyone to make an assessment).
It does not appear to be a huge difference from .450 but if anyone feels like updating their OS this one is just fine! - 03-12-2011, 09:37 AM #145
So, I managed to fix the theme issue and the pinch zoom issue. For some reason on this OS my theme settings wouldn't stay if I rebooted.
I used DM to delete the theme settings database. Then I began to move icons around. The settings held.
Pinch zoom also started working, as well.
I'm just left with the issue of Quicklaunch's Autofill not working in the browser in this OS.

Coming from 448, I have noticed the picture loading lag, but there's no scrolling lag, which is not bad. Pinch loading faster though.
Browser seems to be much faster, I could hover left-right the cb menu without lag now. Touch tab selection tweaked.
Overall UI much faster and feels stable as well.
HTML5test scores 2 points higher too.
For the record, I shrinked at first, of which disabled BIS and produced 603 errors, had to gradually add stuff in and after failing the 6th load, wiped, stock loaded and everything perfect. Must've been VAD or TTY.
Also, browser mem use has always been high, so no worries I think.
I love this build!! That's all for tonight!!

Myself and my brother-in-law both loaded .486 and its running perfectly fine on both our devices...we have not experienced the issues that have been reported...it seems to be more so on a case by case basis that some folks are having these issues...in the past when I would have an issue with a loaded software, I would re-load the software and all will be fine...so far .486 is fantastic and not having any issues...smoother than .450 from what we've noticed...
.486 is a thumbs up for us

I haven't noticed any real "improvement". The only thing I do see is the touchscreen bug that was present in .448 (that some developers recoded their apps for) is gone. For example, in the news feeds app if I touched to open an article it would open the article but when you backed out you would see that your touch to open the article also opened the context menu. That bug does appear to be gone so that is a plus.
Beyond that its about the same for me. Everyone always says its "snappier". This is usually due to the wipe and restore process clearing out memory. If I don't get a new OS within a few months I will do a wipe/restore just to get that snappiness back.
