I miss my bold 9000 But it died a horrible death! It wouldn't hold a charge for more than 2hrs and I even tried another battery and still died, so I upgraded and got the torch. Wish the new berrys would come in the same size/form factor as the 9000. Probably the BEST blackberry to date

Can someone post this to megaupload or something? The current download keeps getting interrupted.

RIMM, stop wasting your software developers time on three year old devices, you supported them enough, its time to put all your money, resources, focus on making qnx the top dog, and cut the head off the snake that is android and ios

IMO Bold 9000 is the best BlackBerry there is right now (until the release of 9900), so I don't mind getting an upgrade from time to time. I wouldn't switch my 9000 for 9780 or Torch.

Maybe the bold 9000 is still worth to support and to upgrade.
Be happy or don't waste your time with it.

Arrow Quick OS UPGRADE GUIDE

Here's my short-version OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...

ELITE1's Quick OS UPGRADE GUIDE
  1. (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from your PC.
  2. Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer to do so, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, the browser is irrelevant though.)
*If 100% certain you've previously used FF or Chrome on same PC to DL an OS successfully, feel free to use FF or Chrome again.
  3. Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
  4. On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
  5. Go through any 3rd party apps that have option to save settings to media card, and conduct Backup to media card from menu within each of these apps. (Examples: all Bellshare apps such as BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps such as Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; Show Me The Images; etc).
  6. Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
  7. (Optional) Use desktop program like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
  8. On PC, navigate to
•64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
    •32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
  9. (Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss v2.2 or Shrink-A-OS/BBH+ Tool.
  10. In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click on Loader to initiate OS upgrade. Follow onscreen instructions.
  11. After OS install is complete, perform several physical battery pulls over first 1-2 days for OS to "settle in." Perform first batt pull very soon after OS is installed.

PS I've posted this before in other threads, but there always seems to be some people that appreciate a step-by-step each time.

I've passed my Bold 9000 down to my daughter. She was having a few flaky issues with App World and a couple other things. I finally got it away from her for long enough to install this latest OS5 for the 9000. All went smoothly, I shrink out the languages and a few other things to get it down to about 59MB, back up device with BBDM6 and 3rd party apps with BBSAK just to be sure. There wasn't enough free memory to straight install using BBDM, so I had to wipe with BBSAK and use loader to handle the install. Now everything works a treat and she's happy as a clam. It's been a few days which is plenty at the rate she uses it to reveal any quirks. So far she's not complained about battery life web access or any of the other social media she runs.

Not seeing much love for the new Bold OSes any more. Shame. I remember seeing 40 pages of comments not more than a year ago for new releases...

Hello everybody. I just installed this OS and had a problem. I'm trying to set the keyboard shortcuts but everytime I try to access the phone options, the bold crashes. It just froze. Is anybody experiencing this too?
