Leaked OS 5.0.0.1041 For The BlackBerry Tour 9630 Fixes and Findings

BlackBerry Tour owners have kind of been left in the dark when it comes to OS leaks. But, today ends that drought. OS 5.0.0.1041 has just sprung up for all you Tour owners who are looking for a new OS. We don't have to tell you this but we will anyways, it's a leaked OS so be sure to back up your data before loading it up. Also, be sure to drop some comments here about what, if anything is new within the OS itself so that others may know.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

Before I try this, can someone explain the "9630EastAsia" part of the file name please? Is it aimed at that market, and therefor of no real benefit to us in the US?
Just curious - haven't seen that before.SIGH!

Us storm users have been using the EastAsia (or china) leaks for a couple leaks now. Its the cell company that the leak comes from. For the storm it also contains an app for recognizing Chinese handwriting piece, but it is RIMs and they have been a number of fixes as well. Based on the storm versions, you should be able to remove any CODs with china/Chinese in the name.

Thoughts on this compared to 1030? 975 is still the most stable imo

so is this anything worth downloading? i'm running on the most recent official verizon release, .975 i believe. is it worth it to upgrade to either of the .10__ leaks? i am on a mac, so the hassle of .exe stares me in the face, so before i switch computers i am very curious...

I just came off 975 and so far I've had no problems. 1041 seems a bit faster at connecting calls than was 975, and there have been a few cosmetic changes here and there, but otherwise I've not noticed much by way of a difference. Based on my experience so far I'd say it's worth a look.

sounds like a good upgrade. i have noticed slower connection times and really weird radio problems. my bbm also sucks recently. some bbms are R immediately and some never get D for hours...(gross).
guess i'll open up the old PC to install this one. - 12-28-2010, 09:51 PM #21

waiting patiently and watching
I will be patiently waiting for the official release but will be watching the concerns and input of others that are trying the leaked version. Was getting error messages before 5.0.0.1030 and now not getting the error message but now having different problems with facebook notifications not deleting themselves when you delete prior. So cautious about any update or new applications. So will be eager waiting and watching to see what I might be in store for.
Thanks.Thank you!
Have a great day!

Running for 32hrs 22mins straight and no random reboots EVER. I did a couple of battery pulls. I'm gonna try to double that to see if I get any random reboots. I'll report back.
