Ah, good question my friend. Yet the phone does not know if the network allows 4g. You mean if the network allows it, it will say it on the phone?

The 9900 isn't 4G LTE capable. It will connect to HSPA+ networks, which some carriers are misleadingly calling "4G".

It also depends where you are, I live on San Antonio Bay and can't get 4G coverage,
but I can fish for sea trout and redfish once a day if I wish!

Depending on where you are Rogers has rolled out 4G LTE, but as noted above the 9900 does not support it. This is probably why Rogers doesn't show 4G, but H+, so when they do have a phone with 4G, they can display 4G to differentiate from H+.

Ii didn't agree with rim not making 9930 lte compatible. Nothing says "I don't want you to buy my phone because I'm going to put last years radio in it. Cheers passing me by for about 15 android os models because I think I'm in competition with apple or something. Haha!"
