Hybrid OS's take what ever the creator of the hybrid feels are the best modules from a collection of different OS's and builds them into the one hybrid OS. For example, they might take the browser from 5.0.xxx and the radio module (controlling the reception of your phone) from .90, as well as other modules from other OS's, and build them into a hybrid. In theory, they can be good, getting the best of the best, but part of the problem is that the radio module for one user in one part of the country, may not be the best radio for someone else. The biggest problem is that whenever you have a problem, no one can help you figure out what's wrong, because no one knows what OS/OS's your running. Even the hybrid builders change their hybrid makeup multiple times in the coarse of one week. So they can't even tell you what your running.
Personally, I;ve run some good hybrids on my phone in the past, but have decided to stop using them. Generally, they are more trouble than they are worth.
