HELP! Can't install 5.0 for 8900
I have an 8900 and am trying to install OS 5.0.0.93.
I am using version 4.7 of the desktop software and have tried using the apploader.exe file in the apploader folder to initiate the upgrade along with the traditional way of opening the desktop software to prompt the upgrade. Every time I try and upgrade, it never recognizes the new software.
It says "no new software available"
I have deleted what I think is the vendor.xml file (it has a safari logo and is called "device.xml")
Am I doing something wrong?
Any and all help will be much appreciated!

The vendor.xml file does not say device.xml. It says vendor.xml.
If it is not working I would uninstall all OS's from your PC. Reboot. Install 5.0 and try loader.exe again. That always works for me when I have these problems.

I would not bother with 5.0. There are some good things, but it is still a bit too buggy.

I think you deleted the wrong file.. vendor.xml file is at the bottom of the list..well everytime i install a OS it is

Um nooooo...what you need to do is disconnect from the Internet before trying to open Desktop Manager.
FYI I just downgraded back to .206 from 5.0 because out of no where my mic stopped working after a day of use-Manager of David Sides-

thank you for all of the suggestions. I have tried all of them and the apploader.exe nor the desktop manager will recognize the new os and initiate the upgrade...
and i am running windows vista...

Couple things. One- delete and re download 5.0.0.93 cause you need that device file. Two- download CrackMem and use that to upgrade.
