Default device wipe question for downgrading from 7.1 to .503

I went from factory os to 7.1 and my battery life went down the crapper. i want to go to .503 because ive heard .503 and .540 have decent battery life. now, i know i have to wipe the device, and was going to use bbsak. but, i first have to backup my device. now, when i go to restore my phone from the backup, wont dm manager reload 7.1 back onto my device?

Uninstall 7.1 from your PC... DM won't reload it if it's not there

done! but i never used dm to load 7.1 in the first place.i used the loader.exe file. so i just used bbsak to wipe my device, and am downloading the .503 exe file and plan on using the loader file in it to load my now software-free 9900 once the download is complete. am i on the right track?

DM is just a front end for Loader.

You're pretty much there. If I was downgrading, I'd do it this way...

1) Back up device data and 3rd party apps.
2) Download and install .503 to PC and delete vendor files
3) Uninstall any other OS versions from PC
4) Wipe device with BBHybrids Tool/BBSAK etc.
5) Open Loader and follow install instructions
6) Restore previous backup file
7) Job done, have a beer

how do i uninstall everything? i delete all the exe files that i downloaded. then, i go into commin files and try to delete the "research in motion" folder, but it gives me a message saying that it cannot be deleted because it is being used in another program. i tried restarting my comp, but still the same thing. how do i delete everything?

to uninstall the OS, go to control panel, uninstall a program, look for any and all that say "blackberry DEVICE software vXXXX" and hit uninstall.

you have to do each one seperately.

I would reboot before I began loading the new OS on my PC.

If you use DM to load your OS, it will tell you which version it's about to install.

good luck. it gets easier...

An OS is an executable program... never delete them, always uninstall through Control Panel.

I don't see the need to wipe if apploader does this for you.
