Default Curve 8900 with 5.0.0.100 - Massive battery drain

Upgraded from 4.6.1 and love everything new on 5.0 EXCEPT that it seems to drain my battery in about 5 hours or so. With 4.6.1 I could get at least a full day, sometimes close to two, so this is a LOT worse.

I've tried many battery pulls and closing all apps running in the background. The only new app that I couldn't close was the visual voicemail, which seems to be stuck on, "Please wait while we configure Visual Voice Mail with your wireless service provider" and no way to quit the program.

What can I do? After a few days of this, I'm about ready to give up and go back to 4.6.1.

Yeah if it persists, I'm just going to donwngrade. I'd rather carry a 8900 with 4.6.1 than one with 5.0.0 and a charger.

It's obviously the VVM that's draining your battery, not the OS.

I deleted all the VVM cod files prior to installing, as my carrier doesn't offer this service...
and I get almost a week of battery life with average use on .100

Removing VVM seems to really help ... so far! I can't believe that it just sits there and spins the CPU, but that seems to be exactly what it does!

I tried a wipe & reinstall without those cod files, but they still seemed to persist... So I just went into Options->Advanced Options->Applications and deleted VVM. Probably should have done that in the first place. :/
