Default 9810 7.1.0.190 vs ver .74 and .150 Mecca leak?

OK, so I'm trying to figure out which way to go?

I've tried both and seem to remember better battery life with the Mecca leak?

Looking for feedback on;

1...Battery life on the two?
2...Using a Kitko gold price app, but it doesn't seem to close in 7.1 yet it does n 7.0?
3...Work in a ski area and on busy weekends, 3&4G is overloaded. In 7.0 I can change to 2G, but not in 7.1. I hope RIM isn't following in Apple's tracks by not allowing us to make that change ourselves?

Thanks in advance!

ohhhhhhh, i love, love, love the sax!!

1. Both were the same for me, but that doesn't mean much
2. don't know the app (is it always running in the background?)
3. Correct, you can't change back and forth in 7.1

Personally, I love the .190, even though, even though, even though...

The app isn't supposed to run after exit, but it won't quit when I try to close in 7.1 even though it closes just fine in 7.0???

  1. From the Home Screen, navigate to the top until the top bar where it shows the SIGNAL LEVEL, DATE, ETC and click on it
  2. A Drop-Down menu will appear, Keep scrolling down until you see Network and Connections, then enter it
  3. Now enter the first option which says Mobile Network
  4. Then in the 4th line, where it says Network Mode, click on it, then you will see the 3G, 2G, or 3G & 2G options.

There is no option to do that with ATT 9810 for OS 7.1 at the moment.

I can change it on my TMO 9810. Perhaps it can be done on next build on ATT 9810.

There are MAJOR differences between the unofficial 7.1.0.74 that I leaked and the hybrid I built, and the leaked 7.1.0.190, performance wise

1 - battery life with .74/150, as reported by many users, was better than .190 because of the ability of the user to select a "radio". In 2G mode, less power is required, of course. Losing that selective option, .190 does it automatically. Not saying .190's battery sucks. It's actually great to be on 4G and wifi consistently, and the battery goes strong for 20hrs, with regular use.

2 - just went to the kitko site, to get info on that app, but the app link has an error. So, assuming logically (which you can take as "I may not know wtf I'm talking about"), the reasoning behind the loss of actually "exiting" the app, is because you would also lose "live" updates of the market. Take the dropbox or any social app, for instance: exiting the app prevent update queries.

3 - the loss of user select-ability, when it comes to 2G/3G and 4G may have to do with AT&T'S implementation of going full LTE, abandoning EDGE altogether. So, .190 is in effect weening us off of EDGE. The reason that other .190 users aren't currently effected by this is because their carriers haven't begin the HSPA to LTE switch...YET. A few .190 users that I'm friends with here, have been reporting seeing the "2G" automatically return, outside of 4G network areas. Again, not an actual RIM "prevention", as it IS a network carrier compliance.

The choice is yours, though. Install .74, then install .190...go a week on both, so you get TRUE settle-in of both OS's. DO NOT install any apps that are not 7.0/7.1 ready - ESPECIALLY Meterberry and the likes. Use your device the way you use it, then choose which OS works for you.

Me...I like .190. It's stabler for the most part, the battery is great, the browser is telepathic, etc

BUT....74/150 is more functional, the best battery so far, the browser is very fast, blah, blah, blah.

Hi Mecca EL, I was only aware of one of your .74 releases.. seems there are 2?? one that you leaked and another hybrid you built? I'm confused

I installed .190 a few days ago and so far my battery life has been horrendous.. I use data intensive applications for work, but at least with .74 i was getting like 6.5 hrs of battery, whereas .190 i barely get 3 hrs.

I just now did a backup, security wipe and reloaded backup on .190 to see if maybe I had bad install.. will relay about battery life in a few days again..

Yes. I only leaked the 9810 7.1.0.74 and built the Inception hybrid using 9900's .150 java...OH and a patch to fix earlier .74 media errors.

Can you provide more info about the apps you use?

Mecca, are you saying that .74/.150 will still allow the switch from 2G to 3/4G?

...as for the kitko app, it's available in appworld. The closing of the app works fine in 7.0 and when started, updates very quickly. So I don't think the closing of the app is a problem, although it just doesn't close in 7.1. Therefore I think it's using extra battery power?!?!

Thanks for your help!

I cannot confirm that switching will work on .74/.150.

And yes, not being able to exit the app is using battery

Mecca..........So I installed .75/.150 last night (over .585) and it does offer the 2G/3G choice. I assume it's because of the 7.0 base?

I'm gonna go with it for a while and see what happens!
