Default Vendor's XML file question

I downloaded the version of .133 for the 8900. However, in looking at instructions here at Crackberry, it mentions something about a vendor's XML file needing to be ditched.

Is this something I need to worry about? I am with TMO and I dl'ed from a link posted here.

Default Upgrade instructions? i am lost.

So I have the executable for .133 and I launched it as described in the upgrade instructions in the Lecture series. But when I get to the Application Loader and tell it to do an update, it can't find any files.

I clicked Upgrade and it looked for files and came back and told me "No Software Update is Required for your device."

What do I do now? It can't seem to find the files it needs and I have no idea where the installer deposited them. I searched through numerous RIM folders to no avail.

You need to remove the vendor.xml file. Follow the directions in the upgrade procedure link in my signature exactly and you should be good to go.

But is .133 still a beta release? I thought it became "official". Haven't tried it yet. I just want the longer battery life. I keep my BB on standby most of the time and still only get two days out of it.

Want more ? Buy external battery charger, and/or buy secondaru battery..

8900 mostly can standby 1-2 days only with normal usage.

I am having the same issue. DM tells me no software available. Is this the reason why? Because it is a BETA release? Any suggestions or anyone have the same issue? Thank you for the helpful info...BTW love the site.

Just be sure your previous device software is uninstalled from your computer, install the newest software, and then use "apploader.exe" in the same directory that you found the vendor.xml file.

The apploader is a smooth process. It does a backup of 3rd party software, and without "arguing" with you about what software you want to install, it moves right through the upgrade. This works for me every time.

Followed your steps and it worked!! It was indeed a smooth process.!! Thank you very much for the great help! I tried about 12 times and got the same crappy "no updated software installed" message each time. I was so emotional because of it....LOL...Like I would pull my hair out and say screw this...step away from the computer but then obsessed cause I wouldn't take no for an answer. Thanks again!

So glad it worked for you! It's such a great feeling when you become "smarter" than your "smartphone!" Good luck, and enjoy the new OS!
