.141/5.0 hybrid color banding
Is it possible to make a hybrid out of .132/.141 5.0 that does not have the color banding issue? If so how far back would one have to go and does any one know what file controls that color depth or 'banding" ? I loved the look and stability of .75 but the new keyboard and other speed ups of the later leaks are also nice.

The hardware controls (i.e. video display is handled by the sfi System Core file). Because of this using an sfi from anything newer then .90 will always give you the newer video limitations. Also, trying to use an sfi file of .90 or lower to fix the banding, causes other java errors as the newer java app cod files won't work properly with system core files that are "too old". It's a Catch22.

I am running .141. I don't have any color banding if I am looking at my pictures.
If I have my browser setting to Image quality low, I get some banding. Open your browser, hit the BB button, go Options/ Geneneral Properties /Image quality.Last edited by Charmed Juan; 05-08-2009 at 02:32 PM.

Thats a bummer. The storm looks great with .75 and not so much with the later leaks, imho. It is a shame that color depth as to be reduced in the later builds. It would be nice to have the option to set the color depth in the options menu somewhere.

Also, keep in mind that when you're browsing a site to look at pics or wallpaper or whatever, DON'T EVEN JUST SELECT THE PIC AND SAVE IT AS THAT. You'll always get the cutdown color levels. You MUST select the pic and hit Menu/Full Image. That will give you the "true" color dept and resolution of the picture in question. Then you can save it.

Its not so much the browser as it is the whole os. There are many spots where you can see color gradient and it just looks crappy. Does any one know if it is possible to get the portrait qwerty in .75?

Just saw the part about device graphics.
Not sure what that is.
I just changed my theme to the IVista 2 and the some of the icons have a shade difference from the top to the bottom. I don't see any banding there either.
Can you tell me where you see banding?Charmed Jaun

search color banding and read definitions, maybe your not understanding exactly what it is your looking for. color banding is where colors do not fade together from shade to shade. Colour banding - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediamost commonly seen on the main icons of the oem theme. anything above .90 has it
i mostly see it when you highlight a box on the oem theme and the blue background of the main screen of media, where you select pics, vids, ringtones, etc. - 05-09-2009, 01:22 PM #14

Blacks will show banding much easier than colors, ever notice the background of a dark scene on a digital TV broadcast?
The Storm only supports ~65K colors. There WILL be some level of color banding depending on the image.
Drop your computer color depth down to 16 bit and look at the image you attached again, it'll have banding. This is my signature, and it is stupendous.
