I'm a new owner of a BB 9000. I just wonder if it possible to surf the web without being connected to a wifi using BB browser?

The simple answer is yes, but be aware many carriers only include WAP browsing in the bundled data package. If you want full web access it may cost more - check your allowances and read the terms and conditions VERY carefully.

Branta is correct. There are also some carriers who block all data-related services altogether without a data plan. This simply depends on your personal situation.
