    Hi guys,
Have been a forum browser here for awhile, I finally took the plunge yesterday and got a new 8320 Curve on T-Mobile. I have paid for the BB email and have unlimited text, but not the internet...i use the wifi when i am at home.

    2 quick questions so far:

    1. google maps application on the BB. I open it and it never downloads or renders any pictures... is this a data plan only thing? or do i need to install the app after installing it.

    2 *the main problem*

Whenever I try to write an SMS my BB pops an error message and goes back to the home screen. Here is my series of steps
    -click on sms app
    -menu button
-'compose sms text' it pops my contacts list
    - I choose the contact
    *poof*
    "Uncaught exception: java.langIllegalArgumentException"

    I can recieve sms, i can send/recieve MMS, i can send/recieve email....

I have done next to nothing on this thing... fresh out of the box, contacts on sim card (one by one i am adding info to each contact.)

Any help or information that y'all might think of would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you in advance to everyone! You guys rock!

Ok so I actually figured the SMS problem myself!

If there is anyone out there seeing the strange weird java error- try this!

Advanced options--> SMS text--> Data coding option.

My data coding options were 7 bit and UCS2....

my crackberry was set to 7 bit.... setting it to UCS2 fixed my issue!

Anyone have any idea about my google maps question?

Yes, you will need a data plan in order to use Google Maps.

    Welcome to CrackBerry!
