Well, I went out and treated myself to my very first BB. It's the Pearl on the Verizon network. I'm still totally baffled by the thing, but I'll learn. Just saying hello and any tips or tricks anyone can offer are more than welcome!

welcome! you'll find lots of great people and info here. i, too, recently treated myself to a pearl and LOVE it! get yourself a microSD card so you can store photos and tunes, check out the free ringtones here at CB, and google maps works well with the pearl. that ought to get you started. good luck!

Hmm, really? I hardly know anyone with BB's around here unless they have em for work. Come to think of it, outside of a few guys I work with, I'm the only one I know who has one for personal use. I didn't know there were so many BB users in Steelers County...

I even figured out how to download and install themes today, and how to install the OS on my computer so my Desktop Manager would actually let me load apps on to my BB.

Next, I may tackle BB Messenger...

messenger is actually pretty cool...

IF you have a friend or colleague with a blackberry. Its like a threaded instant message program... but the pearl already does that for my text messages...

I use it to stay in touch with my sister out of town...

a lot of apps can be downloaded OTA and therefore make the desktop manager unnecessary...

Yeah, I have so far been totally addicted to the email and text. I've always been a very very heavy text message user...and it's only sure to get worse!

yeah.. once you get those callouses developed for the pearl keyboard...you'll be knocking them out without looking.

ANd remember...the pearl will learn what you type and use it and it gets smarter...
