I'm using the 8530 myself, and it's a good starter phone. I agree with Deathcommand on waiting for the new Curve or getting the 9900.

I've been home for the past 7 years, never needed email or the web on the go, but I need it now that my wife is spending 2 weeks a month away on business. Plus for $60 a month for unlimited everything, it's cheap as old chips.
