Well, I got a Curve 8320 a few days ago and I don't understand how I functioned prior to acquiring it. Thing is crazy fun and useful! Using it to its potential, repeatedly throughout the day, is... like... a narcotic! I just wanted to say hello and... I now understand the namesake!

In answer you your question, I don't think there is a specific 'shortcut key' to lock your BB. But is you place the 'lock icon' in a specific place (ie top right, or top left for instance), it's a real quick scroll using the trackball without even looking maybe...?

Another way may be to just press the mute key on the top of your BB. Real quick and easy. Just press again to switch on.

and as for your issue, what you can do is set your left shortcut key,
(Default PTT) And Set It To Lock Your Phone When You Push It.
To Do So, Just Go To Options>Screen/Keyboard>Left Side Convenience Key Opens> Lock.

I feel lost if I don't have my BB with me. My friends think I'm nuts but, they just don't understand the need to be connected. I especially love it when we're setting a date for something and everyone has to wait to get to their calendars or pull out an old paper thing. I just whip out the Curve and confirm my availability.

on the 8330 curve press alt then the enter key to quickly lock the keypad.. hope it helps.

Ha its okay,
after you save the settings, try it out by pushing the left shortcut key
with the 3 dots on it that is on the side of the earphone input and charger input. wait like 1 second and it should lock =]

ive done it now after explained in detail the 3 dot button lol

when u sed left side i thought which button on the left side theres many,
