Just got my first Blackberry today. I bought an almost new 7290 on eBay and I'm pleased thus far. I downloaded and installed the 4.1 software update and the desktop manager says the device has the updated 4.1 software on it. However, when I check the version number on the 7290 in "options" and then "about", it still shows the old 4.0 version numbers.

Did I do something incorrectly? Is the new version number supposed to show up on the 7290?

Yes, the version number will show up on the BB. After you installed the new OS on your PC, did you connect your BB to desktop manager and actually install it to your device? When you install the new OS on your BB it will take about 30-45 minutes.

I got it working now. I deleted the vendor.xml file and it worked.
