    What is its purpose. When I try to activate it, it sends me an email but done not connect and tells me to contact my provider.

    The Enterprise Activation function is for corporate users only. It's the way a Blackberry is initially activated, and connected to a firm's BES, (Blackberry Enterprise Server) that in turn is linked to the firm's mail-servers.

    If you are trying to connect your Berry to corporate email, you need a password from your IT dept.
