Sub-forum just for hybrids, please?
I know this has been mentioned before & nothing was done about it, but I feel like the issue is even worse now than it was before. The OS discussion front page is always littered with hybrid threads. Right before I wrote this, more than 25% of the threads on page 1 were about them (and this does not seem unusual to me). That alone seems reason enough to make a sub-forum just for hybrids. On top of that, a lot of us do not use hybrids at all. It is a little annoying to sift through all of the those threads to find anything else. And because hybrid threads, for whatever reason, seem to always get 1000s of posts, they remain at the top of the discussion as if they were sticky threads.
I can't be the only one who thinks they should have their own sub-forum? - 08-04-2009, 11:54 AM #2

I'm not frustrated? I just think it makes sense when considering that 25% of the main page is devoted to hybrids.

25% really isnt much. Every if we make it, people will still post hybrid questions in the OS forum and it will really become more of a mess IMO. Noobs will be noobs and they wont know the difference or what the **** they are doing

no, hybrids ARE the OS forum.
if it was segmented, all you'd see in here is "OMFG MY VERIZON REP SAID 5.7.8.9.00002 IS COMING OUT TOMORROW" type of threads.
bottom line: the hybrid threads have actual deliverable content to the users here, and in the correct forum. they are user created replacement OS's.
worry about the other stuff more.Storm 9530 / Verizon / .705 over .591 - 08-05-2009, 12:52 PM #17
Wrong..... But all good ideas.....
Most of you are advanced users and like messing around with hybrid OS's. But to be honest the most people that come here are looking for info on the latest released OS or Leak. But file manipulation and all that is for advanced users. You may say it is not but take a new user coming on and seeing a link for a new Hybrid OS..... They will not know what to do and probably mess things up and then comes on more questions.
All Hybrid OS's are in the OS Beta/Hybrid Discussion!
For links and discussion surrounding the latest operating system software for you device (unofficial and links to newest official).
This will give you guys/gals normal test ground for Hybrid testing, Etc. Links can be placed in the OS discussion section to point a user to that section. But the OS section is mainly for the RIM/Provider OS releases and Leaks. Some may also say that Hybrids are the primary OS's that run are devices... You are correct but 20k-30k users with storms that comes her are looking for the carrier release and questions about it.... They want what is official. That is what the Storm OS discussion sub forum is for.... And will be used for... Any future threads with Hybrids will be moved.
As for adding anything down the road, we will have to keep you posted on that.

Now we're having the same problem in the Beta OS forum -- it too has become littered with hybrid threads, to the point where the beta leak threads get pushed down. They've become the spam of the Beta OS forum as far as I'm concerned.
Can we NOW create a subforum for hybrids?BB 950,BB 6280,BB 7290,BB 8800,BB 9000,BB 9800,BB 9810, Samsung Galaxy Note II (yes, mine is bigger than yours)

Thank you, pk. I note there is a poll going on in the beta OS forum now asking people whether they think the forum should be split.
