OSBB 9930 w/342
As many of you know there was a new leak yesterday for the Bold 9900 and the 9360. With new leaks, come new hybrids.
We have been lucky enough at OSBB to have a dedicated group of “risk” takers. These are the hybrid builders who are willing to “brick” their device to bring you the next best hybrid.
This hybrid is 7.1.0.342 full Java, minus 1 file. That’s right, this is as close to a full java swap as you can get. We had to use one file from an “older” build to get messages to function correctly. This is made to run over 7.1.0.267 and has only been tested on this base.
Big thanks go out to 69Goat for jumping right in and getting this build out for the rest of us.
How to install: download file, unzip, copy content of unzip folder into your current OS install java folder (7.1.0.267), run loader.exe and enjoy.

If you find the camera is opening slow, install the file found here http://db.tt/AhUiO8t6 until the dowload link is updated.
EDIT: Download has been fixed with this file included.Last edited by 69goat; 03-21-2012 at 07:19 PM.

I loaded this over 69goat's 284 hybrid for the 9930 last week, and it worked just fine. 69goat, the camera cod should be version 284 is that correct?

2 days after installing the hybrid, here are my observations:
1. there are times where the device seems snappier and there are also times when it seems to be at a crawl (including the occasional hourglass icon appearing even though i'm just navigating through the device and no intensive app running on the background)
2. the reboot time is incredibly longer as compared to .267 (longest i clocked @~12minutes -- .267 has the fastest by far from my experience, ~1 minute, with the same apps)
3. i don't know if it is applicable to all 7.1 iterations of the OS for the bold 9930 but eversince I upgraded from 7.0.xxxx, I cannot use mobile hotspot anymore. It keeps on asking for activation but I never had these activation prompts back on 7.0.xxxx, i know the carrier didn't impose a manual activation since i also have my curve 9360 on 7.1 and i'm never having this issue.
4. the option 'change wallpaper' from the menu>options still doesn't solve the issue of the wallpaper size being scaled up, still have to set it from the pictures folder for the actual size of the wallpaper/picture to display correctly.
5. this hybrid seems to consume more battery juice but it maybe that i'm just on my 2nd day, average of 6% drain rate/hour compared to ~2-3% on .267
Will post more observations through the week. But as always, thank you OSBB and to the whole team for continuing to produce hybrids so us users don't get bored! More power you guys.I'm so poor I can't even pay attention. - 03-26-2012, 10:24 AM #20
For me, this hybrid was way better than the leaked .267. Battery life was better, most bugs fixed (hotspot SSID, brightness on bootup etc.). Device seems snappier, although it could be a psychological effect. Overall, I like it. Thanks for the hybrid!

Thanks to everyone for getting this hybrid out. I loaded it last night, by far the easiest, fastest hybrid load to date. It's running very smooth and seems very snappy. Even in first 12 hours, battery life is great (I know there's usually a break in period, so this is great!). Thanks again for remembering us on the 9930!

Try the other .342 hybrid from OSBB. Its has been better for the battery.
I like it.
