Try booting into safe mode after you do a battery pull.
Hold the arrow (back key, whatever it's called) before it goes to the bootscreen. Hold on to that button for a couple of seconds and wait. If it boots into Safe Mode, great. You can then proceed to reboot again. That's how I got mine to work.

The load bug is still there, but doing a wipe prior to loading and waiting to reinstall apps and data seems to fix it. The safe mode trick should also work.
