OSBB 600v7 (650 and 362)
UPDATE: The current hybrid is OSBB 600v7.2. It's made up of 6.0.0.600 and 7.0.0.400. There are three download options.
First, if you're already running 600v7, download this patch
OSBB 600v7.2 Update (60mb)
It will work with any device that 600v7 worked with.
If you're not running 600v7, the download link for 600v7.2 full install is
OSBB 600v7.2 Full (220 mb)If you want to just download the changed OS files (none of the updated apps, extra media and fonts, etc.), you can download it as a 5mb zip file at
You can try installing this via Fish Loader if you want. I didn't have time to try it.
Enjoy everyone!
Legacy: OSBB 600v7. Install it over 6.0.0.600 or 6.0.0.587.
This is tested on the 9650. Mike's Style Patch is included so it should work on the style, but that is untested at this time.
It should work on other 6.0.0.600 based blackberry's as well, but you'll probably need to install it to a new location and use the Java folder from the installer to overwrite your Java folder. If the hybrid is installed to the OS folder of anything other than a 9650 (or a style with the style patch) it will probably brick or not be identified.
This one is mostly 6.0.0.650 files and 7.0.0.362 files. There's a smattering of other files to fix bugs and promote overall stability, you can check your install log with BBSAK or a similar program if you're curious about the rest of it.
We did something a little different with this build - the additional fonts and media are not included in the main build. The reason for this is that once the OS7 media has been added it takes up something like 100mb (crazy right?). That translates to about 75mb extra on the installer size, so rather than force everyone to download an extra 75mb, those who want the extra fonts and media can download and run a second installer AFTER they have run the recommended preshrunk/main build.
Note: for the preshrunk to not install the extra fonts, you must delete your java folder before installing.
This is unfortunately located in dropbox for now, hopefully we'll get it into the server later. If the bandwidth allocations for dropbox are exceeded, another link will be created.
Enjoy! Leave any comments or questions below.Last edited by SCrid2000; 09-21-2011 at 06:07 PM.

OK, much smaller, 129 mb vs 151 mb for v6. You might want to edit the original post just in case someone is anxious and doesn't read all the way to the update. Thanks.
EDIT: NM, I see you already said you corrected it...Thanks again. dwnlding now.8330 -> 9630 -> 9650 -> Razr Maxx - 09-16-2011, 11:10 AM

Hey Scrid just checked your new hybrid seems like you went back to 650 files over the 7.x.x files used in earlier build. You guys have leveraged 6.x files in this hybrid then in previous ones. I will let others speak to this, but if you run this hybrid it will ask if you want to downgrade which should be normal I am guessing?

That isn't intentional, it should say upgrade.
Can you send me a system read of your BlackBerry?

As a public service announcement, I'll remind everybody to delete BOTH vendor.xml files.
The copy that does NOT get removed by the shrink utilities is located at:

Just to make sure v7 installed correctly, I now have:
OS: 6.0.0.650
Platform: 4.4.0.476
I am concerned only because I use the US Cellular .587 base on a VZW 9650, but I neglected to remove the vendor files, and all is running pretty well. Why?SIGH!

Either way - loaded and running great - thanks for the v7 update! Long awaited for.
BTW - I used the LSPhone's FishLoader to load the Medical, Financial, and Legal language files. For some reason, those never get loaded but I need the Medical especially. Worked great!SIGH!

I had a heck of a time loading this today. I did my usual uninstall and reinstall of the base 587 on my computer, then installed the hybrid. Good to go, so far. Then I couldn't get LOADER or DM to recognize the new OS. Oops, forgot to delete second VENDOR.XML, prompting the PSA above. Finally got new hybrid installed on the phone. It started up just like a new phone. Then the trouble hit.
I wanted to send a BBM. Not loaded. I shrunk it out of the OS install because I had the latest BBM beta loaded on my phone and I wanted to keep it. I normally load the hybrids over the existing OS and let LOADER restore all my apps and data, since LOADER wipes before it reloads anything. At any rate, no big deal -- just reload from RIM. Well, that didn't fly because the phone wouldn't talk to the BIS. I dumped the 11 BIS CODs from OS7 and reloaded the 7 BIS CODs from one of the OS6 releases. After the reboot, BIS is good.
I wanted to reload some apps from AppWorld. No AppWorld, either. Hmmm. Grabbed AppWorld from RIM and rebooted again. AppWorld was up, meaning that I could now reload BBM and such. Yet another reboot, and I looked at my memo pad. Or, I tried to check a memo. No memo app. Somehow, the BBHybrid Tools took the memo app when I shrunk the OS. Loaded the memo COD with BBSAK. Good to go, right? Wrong. I tried to load my calendar data with fresh sync to Outlook. DM reports that the calendar is not installed. WTF? I loaded those CODs with BBMCP and rebooted. CODs are there now, but DM still won't recognize the calendar.
Finally, I went for broke. Wiped the whole thing to a 507 message. Loaded the hybrid OS onto a blank slate. Phone restarted like it had just left its box. I restored just my PIM data, sounds configuration, and WAN info from backup, then I loaded apps one at a time from either the OTA source or from a local backup.
This thing is running very well right now. No leakage to speak of, along with very little lag. I'm not really sure what is improved in this over the .600v5 that I was running this morning, but I'll give this a go. The improvement might be because I wiped the phone. We'll see tomorrow.Last edited by Underway99; 09-17-2011 at 12:00 AM.

That's why I manually shrink

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com - 09-17-2011, 12:06 AM #20
This is the first time that I've had shrinkage failure like this with any of the shrink tools. Normally, those things miss apps that they should be moving away. This time, the tool from the BBHybrids folks took apps that I wanted to keep.
I'll do it the old-fashioned way next time.Another Ramblin' Rehab Reject! Rambling in Rehab - 09-17-2011, 06:32 AM #21
Initially when I loaded it wouldn't let me load the Medscape files saying I had less than 14 meg left. I deleted and extra maps program and 2 things and now have 237,304,629 bytes free.
I used to see what was free using Appworld - I don't see that setting anymore. What do you use to see free app memory?

Install for me was one of the smoothest I had. I used BBH tool for shrinking and the beta apps all stayed. The only app that got lost was BBid. Even my junk folder stayed intact.
Nice job Scrid.

I downloaded and installed this last night. I was hoping this build would fix the Verizon NFL Mobile app. Well, it still does not work and returns the same crypto file error.
In addition, the BlackBerry AppWorld app was not installed. I am loading that from the BlackBerry site now. The other funny thing is my track pad seems to be occasionally registering double clicks. I'll take a look at the preferences to see if anything changed.
Overall, this build seems OK so far. No major lags yet.
