| | Update Worked, at least for now...
I was having some killer chirping problems, so much so i didn't even notice the other issues. It seemes like my battery was draining faster than usual, but I didn't think much of it.
I upgraded and it went smoothly overall. Thanks go out to those of you out there with the smarts to put this stuff together.
One note, I had upgraded to BBM5, and the swithc tho the Hybrid downgraded that. After hooking back into DM I had to have it re-upgrade, but that was cake.
Hopefully the chirping goes away now!

The chirping is history, this hybrid uses the .131 radio file.

Easy, download the file in the first post. Unzip/extract it. Replace your entire OS folder in your C:\Programs\Common Files\Research in Motion\Shared\Loader Files folder with the folder with the same name that was downloaded and extracted.
Everything is there already in that folder for the hybrid.
Read about the applications that blackngray70 removed from the hybrid to save on memory. If you want any of the applications loaded on your BB, then you have to paste in the .cod files within the folder into the Java folder within the OS folder you downloaded. Any .alx files go in the main OS folder along with the other .alx files already there.
Double check that the vendor.xml file has been removed from the C:\Programs\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader folder. Then launch your OS installation from C:\Programs\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader folder by double clicking on the loader.exe file.
But all that is in the first post.
If you don't understand the instructions, you need to ask, or seriously think about whether you should be messing with your BB.

There were also some people experiencing problems with their profiles getting lost with .160
Credit goes to blackngray70 and slingbox for cooking up various OS hybrids until a stable mix was found. | |

| | Increased Battery Pulls?
Since upgrading to .160 a couple months ago, I had noticed having to do an increased number of battery pulls, and even installed QuickPull to help with this (of which, the scheduling feature doesn't work if you have a password on your device).
Even after reloading this hybrid last night (no chirps!) and the phone sitting unused all night long, I had to do a battery pull 7 hours later as my data wasn't coming through. Any idea why I would have to do this so soon after the phone having been reloaded and restarted? I was hoping the hybrid might have helped, but so far no dice. I have plenty of memory available on the phone, all my media is on the card.

pwc1531, first I've heard of this issue. Could it be one of your apps that is causing the issue?

Not that i am aware of. Outside of weblinks, the only apps i have added are facebook, crackberry apps, blackberry apps, docs to go, and kaglom. The last four shouldn't be tanking any memory, and facebook was there before without an issue. is there a way to tell how much drain each app is putting on the memory, like the task manager in windows?

I can remove that if necessary, i rarely use it but if it causes issues, i'd be happy to get rid of it. If i don't have it running, does it actually case problems?
