Hybrid 9700 OS 6 - 358 "Barracuda Series 4"

Hi,
i from indonesian just wanna share my os Hybrid here. thx

Here is the data from the Barracuda Series 4 OS6 - 358:

* Help screen: 6.0.0.359 and the About screen: 6.0.0.358

* Platform: 6.6.0.63. SFI with size 30.924 KB (in folder Radio9700)

* Barracuda OS6 Series 4 - 358 I took from some Base OS: 6.0.0.294/.329/.337/.357/.358/.359

Excess Hybrid OS6 Barracuda Series 4 - 358 is compared to OS Standard:

* Stability of memory management, battery, boot and better browser.
* Improved responsiveness and better quality in media player, camera and video.
* Improved stability better at locking wifi, bluetooth pairing and locking.
* Inc. Hybrid BBM v.1
* Inc. Yahoo's latest Messenger v.2.5.69 (if not dont checked).
* Inc. Up the latest v.1.9.0.20 (if not dont checked).
* Video feature blackberries launcher at startup time as well as videos for the setup wizzard and the sample picture and video samples are to be "temporary disabled" and can be enabled with choice "Enable Mediakit" when load the OS via Desktop Manager or Loader.exe (will go into third-party applications). (If you do not want to dont checked).
* Some fonts are included in the category arial, courier, times, Trebuchet, Verdana, Georgia, and tahoma are "temporary disabled" and can be enabled with choice "Enable Miscs Font 6" at the time of load os via Desktop Manager or Loader.exe ( will enter into third party applications). (If you do not want to dont checked).
* The option to enable the event log, ringtones os 5, ringtones os 6, Avatar for BlackBerry Messenger, Sample Backgrounds / Wallpapers, and search features available in BlackBerry OS 6. (If you do not want to dont checked).

Some important things which need to be noticed:
1. Do not forget to delete the file "Vendor.xml" which is located in C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Research In Motion \ Apploader
2. In the Hybrid is still there are some bugs inherited from the OS 6.
3. Freeze / Lag can occur after a restore of data and fuel as well as Group.
4. During the first 1-2 days may occur due to the adaptation process drains battery hybrid OS6 Barracuda Series 4 - 358 this.
5. CJK feature is only read only.
6. Hybrid is only using the language English, if you want to use another language please inject themselves.
7. ADVICE, INPUT and the FEEDBACK so we would expect from a hybrid members here, as the race for us to be better.

Installation Instructions (Read carefully):
1. Download "Barracuda Series 4 OS6 - 358.rar" Extract "Barracuda Series 4 OS6 - 358.rar" to your PC / Laptop (Link is below these instructions)
2. Install Base OS 9700 Beta / Official. (I take an example: 9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63)
3. Delete the file "Vendor.xml" which is on C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Research In Motion \ Apploader
4. Delete all the contents of the folder "9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63" which is located in C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Research inMotion \ Shared \ Loader Files \ 9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63
5. Copy the entire contents of the folder "Barracuda OS6 Series 4 - 358" into the folder "9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63"
6. Backup all data and 3rd Apps.
7. Wipe device using JL_cmder
8. Load OS through Loader.exe which is located in C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Research In Motion \ Apploader
9. When finished doing the restore data and 3rd Apps.

What's the difference between the other "Barracuda Series 4" ?

IIRC the reasons why I stopped using it was:

- Universal Search doesn't work. It does search but you can't click on any searched items (crashes your BB with a 404[?] error and you have to reboot).
- "Typing" option doesn't work.
- Camera flash stopped working after the first flash and you have to reboot for every one flash.

Does this one fixed those bugs.

Its defference module bro, in this hybrid use module .358. Not .344
All feature its work on my 9700. Are u wrong instalation?

yup i have that problem too..crash buy itself after use universal search.. app error 502 reset... hmm that common error in this barracuda hybrid.. still not fix this bug in this new hybrid

I think you should look at your other Barracuda thread again. It says to use .358 and it was released after .358 was available, naturally I used .358 as base...

But if the bugs were results of the wrong base OS then I suppose I'll give this one a try. But are you sure those bugs I mentioned are not in your hybrid. Have you tried doing them ? The guy above me is having the same bug...

What you must do:
1. Installing leaked/official OS 9700 to your PC
2. Go to my computer/local disc C/program files/common files/Research in Motion/Shared/9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63/ then delete all the data inside the 9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63 folder.
3. Extract "Barracuda Series 4 OS6" to your PC..and put the all files inside "Barracuda Series 4 OS6" folder to 9700M_v6.0.0.358_P6.6.0.63
4. Don't forget to delete vendor.xml before the installation
5. Don't shrink again because this hybrid already minimized for free memory

Downloaded this Hybrid last night and so far everything seems to be working just fine. No problems with Universal Search, haven't crashed on me yet and i've used it numerous times after installing. The camera flash works fine. no need to reboot to get the flash to work again, as for the Typing Option? Not sure what your talking about on that?

Oh and yes i know it says I own a Torch 9800, which i do, but i also have a Bold 9700, forgot to mention that in my last reply

By "typing" option I mean the option called "typing" in Options...it's for auto complete. Just go to Options and search for "typing". See if you can run that (get into that option item). Thanks.

Been using this hybrid for about 2hrs and digging it ... Only problem i have come across is that i can not forward sms/mms ... Anyone else experiencing this ?

I posted a review of the previous barracuda 4 in this space.

I wanted to say that this build has decreased the memory leak. I had 20-30mb of leak and now under 10mb.

thank you all for those who are already using this hybrid. for typing the problem can not because in this hybrid language only english language, because I made this hybrid for which a lot of memory. maybe in his next version I will make a hybrid, including all languages. on my blackberry and some of my friends could use a forward sms. apologize for this inconvenience.

Autotext "Typing" - it's called "Word Substitution" in OS6.

Hmm, "Typing" is for auto-complete (predictive) text options. Example: You only need to type "subs" to get "substitution", "dysf" to get "dysfunction", etc. It learns which words you use most and shows you those above other words that begins with the same letters in your language's dictionary. It's a very useful feature. Cuts down on your typing a lot.

It's different than autotext(ws) that uses predefined substitutions and doesn't use the dictionary at all.
