| | Driphter.com dirty tactics
Anyone else believe that driphter.com uses unethical tactics to try and make people pay for VIP? A couple of weeks ago, driphter promised to make his 6.0 hybrids available to everyone/ public. This was while making a push to get more people paying into the website. Additionally he promised OS 6 for all devices. Not only has he not delivered OS 6 for all devices, but today he releases his OS 6 hybrid to VIP only. Seems like a liar to me. I guess no one should be surprised. He is a cars salesman in real life. Probably used cars.

I agree that Driphter is a manipulator. Says one thing and does another. As a contributor to RBHybrids adn a VIP, RBeane said that I would get VIP at Driphter when they merged. It never happened and several of us got screwed.

The Driphter team works their asses off doing what they do.
They make some of the best hybrids out there to our community.
So what they want VIPs, they are asking for a little bit of money for all they do!!! Do you work for free?
Yes some hybrid builders release their hybrids for free, but they have not created their own community to support their works.
If you don't like the way Driphter does things, don't use their hybrids, its as simple as that.
They have done a lot of solid things for their community and CBs, I respect them for that. They want $30,$40 or $50 for a VIP power to em to ask back a little bit, for what everyone wants for free.
Bottom line, do it better yourself if you don't like their practices.

Don't like it, don't buy it. why slander the site? The members don't seem to be complaining. They paid and are happy with the service they are receiving. Posted from my BlackBerry using BerryBlab |

No OS6 Hybrids have been released to anyone including VIP. They are still working on them. Its not as easy as you think.

I have been using Willyboy Hybrid (currently on v7.3).
I loved to be on the edge .... but certainly will not paid $$ for a Hybrid.... but that's my own choice. Others decided to contribute by joining the VIP, and that's their own choice.
I have a feeling those paid for VIP are doing it to support the Hybrid builder on what they do ... rather then just to get the latest build only approx one week before it turns public.
If you don't like to contribute with $$, then just wait for a week or so like me, then try the hybrid when it turns public.
Or, like the others have pointed out ... go build your own hybrid, and please remember to share when you did..... and that will also be your own choice. =)

I also wouldn't pay money for a hybrid, but I do help beta test some so that's a useful alternative.
Driphter is trying. The OS6 hybrids you're referring to are still OS5, they just have OS6 files in them - not that big a deal in all reality. They might make the device faster, battery life better, both, or neither.
And he certainly won't get rich off the site. If 1/100 members were VIP's (which I doubt) and each bought a 1 year VIP, that'd be 3 grand. Nice bit of pocket change? Yeah. After paying for the website and putting in the time the driphter guys obviously put in, worth it? Maybe you think so, but I'd say **** no. You make more than that working part time minimum wage for a couple months.

Blah blah...praise or hate, their are lots of other hybrid makers that make just as good if not better hybrids on multiple devices...and 95% are free...so instead of complaining, just boycott and go somewhere else...
Is that too hard? I'm sure mods will delete this anyways, I've seen a few on here that seemed like kool-ade drinkers...I digress, yes, go somewhere else, and just ignore the ploys, and stop complaining (?)...

I dont care for or use hybrids anymore but the whole OS 6 for other devices i think is leading some people on. Like mention they are making OS 6 hybrids, using OS 5 base. that is NOT OS 6 and you still wont have webkit and other main OS 6 features. there are other hybrids out there that do the same thing right now if you want to try them.

Never really saw the point of a hybrid personally. All they do is take other peoples work, mix it up a bit (no programming skills needed). To charge for the work (which I guarantee is RIM property) seems very unethical to me.
Driphter also took my instructions to get OS6 working posted them on their site the next day and passed them off as their own, then later added a small link at the bottom back to my instructions. This has nothing to do with their hybrids but it does show their ethics are questionable.

one question: why are you all bashing driphter.com while bbhybrids, also has a VIP support system. Works the same as driphter. You don't pay for your hybrids, but to support the site.
