You could reload as suggested on the group, or hold off till monday and get RC9 A1 as we are about to start testing.

    Christmas comes early this year!!!!

On topic, 24 hours on RC8B1 and everything runs extremely smooth. Better than RC8A1. Can't really comment on battery life yet, but based on the 24 hours of use it looks good. Browser speed seems the same as RC8B1 but scrolling is smoother and response is snappier.

Will the RC9A1 be based on .794? Has any carriers released their version besides China Unicom?

WHAAAAAT?! I bet most didn't even load RC8B1 yet and you're about to release RC9...you guys, are insane. In a good way.

    Keep up the phenomenal work.
Woohooooooo......................RC9 ? Really ? Take your time guys, have just loaded 8b and you guys have the next one ready ??????????
As far as 8b is concerned i am speechless, i took it of charge at 7am and now it is 1330 hrs and the drain is only a 6% ( which means a drain rate of less than 1%), though today is a light use day (10bbm, 6 emails and 10sms) but still that kind of drain rate is Phenomenal !
Overall the smoothness compares or is at par with BL builds but the difference here is the device temp which is around 14 degrees celcius on an average and the signal locking is a tad better for me than what i get from .714 ( i get -61dbm whereas in the same place i used to get between -71-75dbm with .714sfi).

Don't know how this can be improved upon but the BL team will will work a way around it i'm sure !
Thanks again guys, this is Fantastic.

A Lazy Sunday & was thinking that I've actually forgotten how a Stock RIM 7.1 OS is supposed to perform ...

Been using BL Hybrids for 3 odd months ever since it kicked off & performance has always been on another platform ...

Once again ... 3 Cheers .. .. .. ... to all at BL for your stupendous accomplishments.

true, but if he hasn't purchased it then there is no legitimate way to get it, so i'd go with tinymeter.

Easy to get muddled up between the 2 bl hybrid threads! I'm on RC7A which seems to work really well for me, may have time over christmas to go to the latest (and will make my mind up between which One!)

Is there any major difference between ultimate and returns ? I'm on a bold 9900 7.1

    Regards

I started using North American carriers (tried out Rogers for RC7A and Bell for RC7B, both 746 base & sfi) instead of the usual European (Voda, Tmobile, etc) and noticed huge improvements. So far Rogers was a bit better than Bell, but they're both great. Almost always on 4G at work now, even in safe room, which typically used to only get edge.

I wish Tmobile USA would release a current one but the last was 342(?) so I think they gave up on RIM.

Edit: I take it back, its 284

I'm curious, which Bell SFI did you end up trying, I thought their latest for the 9900 was .523?

@BigwhiteUK I guess you can try the latest RC that has come out, OR load what worked best for you on your son's device. At the end of the day I guess its user preference, and a little trial and error as well. Hope you get a good load and that your son enjoys the device once you've gotten it up and running!

    Hi Maxx
How are you doing with RC8B1 and the .658 sifi you chose to use -how much better is the ADR overall compared with .714?

I have a nagging problem. I keep reverting to .714 base+sfi mixed with rc7b1 hybrid. One of the main reasons is the speed of downloads. As strange as this may sound the fastest download speeds I get are with that mix. Is there perhaps a cod or two that affects downloads or maybe browser in general that I can perhaps inject from rc7b1 to say one of the other rc or even BL returns mixes and attain that same speeds. Battery life is average> Th eonly problem with it is after awhile it becomes somewhat slow. the navigation through the items in the various menus. Not very slow, maybe like 2 or 3 seconds slow and its annoying when you are used to a snappy OS navigation like in BL returns v2.

You can install an app. like a memory booster or a memory recyler, apply it after a heavy usage, it will regain your device memory.

It's doing superbly well but i haven't compared it with .714sfi combo so am not sure but i guess that is a Winner with both combos.
I get an ADr in the range of 4-5% per hour on heavy usage and less than 2 on medium.
