Just installed the RC8A1 and have a few issues...

    - Takes a loooong time to connect to BB servers (getting the small BB logo). Takes over 1 minute, on stock .746 it took less than 10 seconds. Is that because of different COD files or maybe because I'm using a different SFI (Vodafone UK large SFI)?
    - Can't logon to Twitter. Have tried reinstalling the app. Can logon on my computer and via the phone browser, but not the app. Tries to logon until it an error pops up. Twitter works now, don't know why it didn't worked before.

But long connection time to BB servers is still an issue...

It's your BIS connection/service Book (corrupted data) not because of the 714 sfi.

Do a soft reboot (don't do batt. Pull) and use 3G (don't use wifi for the first half an hour)

Stick to 746 fat then if that's what worked for you. Always stick to the sfi that works with your carrier.

We are spoiled for choice here.

Right now I'm running stock .746 from UTS with RC8A1. Where do I find fat/large .746 SFI? Still between 1-2 minutes in order to connect to BB servers, after either battery pull or soft reboot/reset. Maybe it's due to the COD's from RC8A1? Always very fast connection with stock .746, less than 10 seconds...

Guess I will just have to live with that. Otherwise RC8A1 works very good so far. Haven't had any issues with random reboot as I did with stock .746 from UTS and BL Returns V1.

We have no issue with the network connection, it connects under 10 seconds, wether it's your network or you have a bad install, please wipe your device fisrt when you wanna change to 746 larger SFI.

I never believed in wiping until I got some strange issues after installing RC7A1 (I think)
Advice from BL Team was wipe and reload, did so, all was well.
Since then I have wiped religously.
For the little additional time and effort it takes it is well worth adding to your install routine.

I've never done a hybrid installation without wiping. I'm using BBSAK to wipe my device before every installation. I will try wiping again and install .746 from Rogers Wireless with RC8A1 and see if that helps on the BB server connection issues.

Maybe it's just my carrier, but I've had much better connection time when I was on stock firmware. Both .714 and .746. We'll see after a device wipe and fresh install.

Are there any service books I can delete or re-send in order to try to fix this issue and which one(s)?

Well I just gave Mister Zocster some feedback this morning on RC8...deadly as ever! Browser is bonkers! very fast ADR and MDR are nothing short of phenomenal, and its also very very 'fluid' if that makes sense to you guys, ZERO lag whatsoever.

    What is your carrier?

Initial host routing table registration does take sometime, but after a couple batt pulls, it does it in 4 seconds max

    Hey Zocster

My carrier is 'Hi3G', normally just called '3'. I actually just did a battery pull, unfortunately because my device suddenly decided to turned itself off but this time it didn't try to reboot. Anyway, it connected to the BlackBerry servers withing 15-20 seconds.

    Never experience a self reboot.

What else did you load during your install?

Besides the neccessary stuff I loaded "Danish language/input", Facebook, Twitter, AppWorld and BBM. Everything else was de-selected. After installation I restored my backup, but this time I only restored contact list, text messages and emails. Then I setup my email accounts. Did a battery pull and then I upgraded Facebook and Twitter. Restarted or did a battery pull.

As I write this my device just turned off but at least this time it reboots

Should do, you need to overwrite the Hybrid Java over the base .742 OS you have installed and then shrink to your taste.

A wipe prior to install is highly recommended.
