600v9 Retro Version (6.666 and 4.440)
A lot of people (including myself) were having bad battery life with 600v8.5 and 600v9, due to the 668 files. So this build downgrades all the 668 files to 666. It also includes some 663 files from the 9330 OS to replace some 600, 615, and 650 files.
This build included patches for the 93x0 and 9670. Those patches could conceivably have 668 files in them, they are the exact same as previous.
Use 6.0.0.600 or 6.0.0.587 for the Bold 9650. Most people seem to prefer 587, but it's a personal choice.
Use 6.0.0.600 as the base for the Style.
Use 6.0.0.663 as the base for the Curve 93x0.
Includes the latest Betas for Twitter, BBM, App World (released today), etc., which can be optionally installed.
It is set to install by default over 6.0.0.587 for the 9650, if you want to install it on a different base OS you will need to change the default install location to the folder for the OS you want to use for the base.
The hybrid is preshrunk, with fonts and media removed. However, you may need to shrink the extra fonts and media from your base OS.
If 600v9 is working great for you, you might want to ignore this version.
It seems snappy so far, very fast. The loading process was flawless for me, I didn't lose any groups or anything.

UPDATE: Fixed the Browser bug.
You can download it from the OSBB Forums at 600v9 Retro Version (6.666 and 4.440) : OpenSourceBB Forum
If you downloaded the broken browser version, you just need the patch: Browser Patch
UPDATE: Back online. Also, 600v10 - Bringing you 7.1 files for your OS6 device! (or alternatively 7.0.0.474))

First! And I'm downloading it now. I was just navigating to the Hybrids thread to see if you got it accomplished today. Timing is everything.
Thanks Scrid and all of the OSBB folks. Gives those of us with nothing to do on Friday night something to do.

Not dorks, just "funds challenged". Wife, 2 kids, private school, etc. = not a lot of liquid cash.
Side note: Install completed with no issues - BES being re-established as I type this, then on to the EULA's. Now that would be an app I would pay well for, one that re-enters all of the EULA's when a new OS and backup is installed.SIGH!

Hey SCrid - we might have an issue. Every time I try to open a link from an email, as in an app from Mobihand with a download link, the device freezes for a couple of minutes, then will open the native browser, but does nothing. Did you change something up that might cause that?
Or perhaps I got a corrupted install?SIGH!

Final Update for tonight:
I went back to v9 with the .668 files, and everything works as it should. I don't know if it was my device or the Retro, but they did not like each other.SIGH!

Sorry bout that.
I'll mess with it more in the morning.Last edited by SCrid2000; 10-22-2011 at 12:56 AM.

Try swapping the net_rim_database file with a 668.

Finally up this morning.... Suffering from a wicked cold and generally feeling like the entire political process of this Country all rolled up into my head.
No worries on the Browser issue - went back to v9 and all is good. When you get the .exe up with the .668 file, I'll try it again...
Thanks for the effort guys ...SIGH!

Yup. I just updated the main build with the fixed build and the patch. Patch is only a few kb, so if you already have the v9 retro installer you should be good to go with the patch.

Okee Dokee - here we go....
STOP: One question before I do this - I was trying to figur out if there would be ANY benefit of installing this over the Verizon official .524 since I have a VZW device. Is there? Taking out the vendor files is easily done, so why do we have vendor official versions? Why wouldn't all vendors, for ease of use, tracking, support, etc. just use whatever the latest is that has been released by RIM?Last edited by Blackfeet; 10-22-2011 at 10:49 AM.

OK - might need some EMERGENCY help here. For the first time ever loading the hybrids through the DM, it is stuck in the RESTORE PROCESS at DataBase :CustomWordCollection 70 of 93 items, and when I looked at the 9650 itself, I have a "App Error 606" and Reset box. I have no idea what App Error 606 means, but I am getting a bad feeling about this.
Any ideas? Should I unplug and start over, or what?SIGH!

AND, I just hit the enter, since I was getting nowhere, and it rebooted.
Now it looks like I bricked it. DOH! It is not reconnecting to the DM, and I have the App Error 606 screen on the phone. Oops....SIGH!

I use apploader, not DM for loading the OS and it has gotten stuck on me before during the restore process. Try to D/C from the pc and do a battery pull and try again. If that fails, try to use DM for the restore.
I only get an error when I had installed incompatible cods. (Like last night. LOL)
But this build should be not the cause of that error.Last edited by 69goat; 10-22-2011 at 01:47 PM.

OK - we are DOA, Katut, Gone the Way of the Dodo....
I have tried Loader.exe, Desktop Manager, downgrading to the official VZW .524 only, but nothing is loading. It starts, and then Loader or the DM hangs, and I get the 606 error. Hmmm....
This is most unfortunate. I am not upset that this happened, as I accept it as a risk of hybridding, and I am not blaming the hybrid. I just have to find a way to explain this to my IT guy on Monday. What really SCARES me is that lately they have been replacing BB's devices with either Droid's (forget what model) or the iPhone 4 (maybe S now - not sure). I don't want either.SIGH!

I'm not too familiar with the torrent downloads...its prompting me to use Limewire which is now defunct. I tried frostwire and still can't get it. Any ideas?

Sorry this has happened. Couple of things. Wipe with bbsak BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife , then try to reload the os. And turn off DM software updates. Read this and see if it helps. When Desktop Manager can't find the latest OS you just loaded....
EDIT: And you are not alone with this error. http://bit.ly/poV1xBLast edited by 69goat; 10-22-2011 at 03:56 PM.

I'll give this a shot. Interesting thing is this - I have about 25 seconds worth of time where I will get a list of app loaded in the device displayed, and I can connect during that time. I have twice connected, tried to install .524 official, and after about 3 or 4 monies, as in just starting the load process, the device goes to the 606 screen, and the install stalls right there.
My apologies for highjacking this thread, that was not my intention. And I really don't feel this is an issue caused by the v9 retro alone. I will continue to play around with this and see if some combination of events will work. I just wiped with BBSAK (it did connect - go figure), so we'll see what happens from here.
Thanks for the support...SIGH!

OK - last update - I promise. After the BBSAK wipe, I was able to install .524, and from there (i remember there were all kinds of issues with .524) I upgraded to .587 and the OSBB v9, or - right back to where I started.

The bad news is that I lost all of my apps, so I have to spend some time going downlading and re-installing those, and I lost my BES, but that is all a small price to pay.
We are back in business!Last edited by Blackfeet; 10-22-2011 at 05:40 PM.
