600v10 - Bringing you 7.1 files for your OS6 device! (or alternatively 7.0.0.474)
So this week brought us a leak of 7.1.0.58 cods, thanks to N4BB for that (I believe that's where they came from, I'll edit this if I'm wrong). And of course, the OSBB team couldn't pass up the opportunity to build a hybrid containing 7.1 cods
As installed on my BlackBerry, this hybrid contains:
131 OS 7.1.0.58 cods
4 OS 7.0.0.474 cods (bug fixes for non-working/nonexistant 7.1 cods)
2 OS 7.0.0.464 cods (screen size resolution files)
Several hundred 6.0.0.666 cods (see next paragraph)
Newest Beta Twitter, Latest BBM, and latest RIM apps from the 7.0.0.474 release.
This build ONLY CONTAINS 7.1 (and a smattering of 7.0.0.474) files. Therefore, it is HIGHLY recommended that you install it over another hybrid. I highly recommend you install it over OSBB 600v9 Retro Version (600v9 Retro Version (6.666 and 4.440)), but 600v9 will also work (OSBB 600v9 (668 and 440) verified working on 9650, 9670, and 9330) and probably numerous other builds.
I'm personally running it over OSBB 600v9 Retro version, because the .666 files in v9 Retro give me far better battery life than 600v9.
Like the entire OSBB 600vX series, this was built on a Bold 9650. But it should also work on the 9670 and 9330.
In fact, because it only contains 7.1 files, it should also work on 9700, 9780, etc (although no guarantees of course).
Installation steps:
1. Install the base OS of your choice (6.0.0.587 recommended for 9650 (although 6.0.0.600 works better for some), 6.0.0.633 for 9330, 587 for 9670 (same note as 9650), 600 for 9700, etc).
2. RECOMMENDED (not necessary): install OSBB 600v9 Retro (or another hybrid of your choice; only OSBB builds have been confirmed working) and, if needed, the necessary patch for your BlackBerry from the same installer.
3. Install the hybrid
4. Comment on this thread! Bugs are always a possibility (although I think most of those were fixed, which is why this is being released today instead of last Wednesday).
5. If you haven't, check out OpenSourceBB.com – The best freakin' hybrids. Period..
It's recommended you use the first install option in the OSBBv10 installer, or the ones with extra fonts and media if you want them.
The experimental install won't break anything, but the stuff it gives you an option to install might not work.
This build also contains OSBB 600v9.5 if you want to update your 7.0.0.440 files to 7.0.0.474 - a less experimental build for those who don't want to be among the first to install the leaked 7.1 files.
And as always, the OSBB team is always looking for new members and people to help us build, test, or simply run the best freakin hybrids.

Update: From that same link, you can also download a patch of 60 more 7.1.0.58 files courtesy of Wu-Wei's latest hybrid.
To install the WuWei patch, extract the cods within the zip file into your OS folder.Last edited by OpenSourceBB; 11-06-2011 at 03:01 PM.

I should mention that 600v9 Retro Version is also back online for those who didn't get a chance to download it and want to install 600v10 over it.

Thanks. Is it 9670 Style compatible?

AFAIK, no one has actually tested it on the style, but there's no reason it shouldn't work on the style.

600v9 and v9 Retro had a style patch to fix some errors caused by newer OS6 files that worked on the 9650.
Since this only contains 7.1 files replacing files that worked on all devices in prior builds, there's no reason it shouldn't work.
But if you install 600v9 Retro before installing 600v10 (which you should do) make sure you install the style patch from it. - 11-04-2011, 12:47 PM #13
Um - v9 Retro installed on my notebook OK, but when I tried to install v10 on top of it, I get an error message. I've tried a couple of times.

First error, something went wrong with installling loader.exe. See if you can run it.
Second error, ignore it. It means I'm using the free version of the install creater.

OK - I'll press forward, then load up BBSAK and read the system. If I see a bunch of 7.1 files, then we'll know.

Cool. I was just musing on when v10 would be coming out. Downloading now. I'll try to load this up over the weekend...if not, I'll have it loaded early next week. Thanks to all the OSBB team!

Loaded and working so far on Style 9670.
Will report how it works after I use it for the weekend if there are no major problems.Style 9670

Well, I am having the usual problems with BBSAK not connecting, so I can't tell you if v10 took or not. I know the alt|right shift|H shows 7.70.0440 and about has 6.0.0.666, so I know v9 Retro is there...

Install into your computer BB OS folder over the 600v9 retro hybrid. You don't need to wipe, just run apploader. If you have any doubts if it will work on a 9780, go here Berrylicious "For Fun" 9300, 97xx and 9800 to Zocster's hybrid and try that.
