Default Why GPS ?

Sorry Fun Seekers,,, but I am very new to all of this, and new to my Torch, But, why do we dn load and app for GPS whan the phone already has one on it, what am I missing here, Many thanks

Hehehe. The phone has a GPS chip and the base OS will query it for your location but to get "tom-tom" type directions while traveling or to search for locations of interest near your current location, you need an application.
