How to setup GPS locater?

Hi,

I just got an tmobile 8900 that is unlocked and I now use it on ATT. I am using it without a data plan and relying on wifi. I really want to use the free GPS feature on this phone, but I cant get it to locate me.

When I go to Options -> adv. options -> GPS -> refresh, I can never get it to locate me. It just says that my location is at 0, and I am connected to 0 satellites. How do I get my Blackberry gps locater to work? I really want to start downloading maps and using free navigation.

I'm pretty sure the GPS uses cell towers for location services, so if you've got Mobile Networks data turned off then this is the message you will continue to get. You have to have a data package or use data services in order to use the GPS. WiFi does not support GPS functions, as far as I know.
