Post GPSLogger II [preview] (still 100% free - not 100% offline)

Hello,

after more then two years I thought the time might be right to spend a little time with my first BlackBerry application... and so actually I would like to share with you some screenshots of the GPSLogger v2.0 that I am currently working on... Most important change is BBMaps integration - you need to have BBMaps installed in order to use GPSLogger II - Why? Simply cause GPSLogger will now show the path on a Map - yes this also implies that GPSLogger is not 100% offline anylonger - but when you turn off the device data service the map field will still work (just like the old GPSLogger)...

Beside the default "main" view you can have up to two fixed additional views (configurable in the Options) - once they are configured you can turn them on/off via the [1] or [2] key...

Please take a closer look to the screenshots and let me know what you think...

I've had the original GPSLogger on my phone for well over a year and this version is super nice. The fact that it integrates with BB Maps now is a huge improvement. Its nice that you can follow your progress on a map. This app gives you a ton of information with graphs on just about every detail you want to keep track of. The compass is a cool feature.

If you are a serious runner, trail runner, hiker, hunter, or cyclist you really should check out this application.

I just uploaded a small update that
- allows you to configure the content of the status bar
- autohide the bar after n-Minutes of logging
- toggle Status bar with the [0] (zero) key

Do I get it from the link below. When I check for update in the app it tells me I'm current.

true - right now the "check for update" function is not implemented on my server side *uups* - using just the OTA-Link of the post should anyhow give you the new build

Looks like a great program. I'm going to try this a little later. For some reason I've always loved the GPS ability of our devices!!

When you like to have GoogleMaps in a 3'rd party application then you would need to get an Android Phone ;-)

... the latest build of GPSLogger II comes again with a plain path view - so that no maps are needed - I know this is not what you have asked for... but GoogleMaps does not offer a native API... (only BrowserField based...)

I'm looking for an application to record lap time on car race track from inside the car (and eventually trajectory, accelerations, deceleration, speed...etc). I know there is a lot of application of this kind for Androïd, but haven't found any for my BB.
Your good GPSlogger application is very close to provide this kind of capabilities. I saw there is a lap timer function, but didn't manage to make it work. The biggest problem for automatically recording lap time is how to select the geographical line representing the track start line (it's a line and not a point).
I'll be interresting to test this if you decide to include it in the package.
thanks

I like the app a lot, but I'm not clear about using it without data. I'll be traveling soon and I don't want to use any data while roaming. Please explain how to avoid data use. Thanks

the best way is to turn globally data of while on roaming...
-> for GPSLogger you should simply avoiding using the MapView - so in the "Appearance and Startup Options" select the Path view as initial view

I want to keep data on because I subscribe to T-Mobile's roaming email package which includes email but no other data.
