does the 8530 curve have gps and if so does it do more than maps, like show turn for turn and is there a way to turn on voice directions.

Yes, it has GPS. No built in voice directions that I know of. I wouldn't recommend the device.

What carrier do you have?

VZW offers a subscription to VZ Navigator, which works on the 8530.

Sprint offers a subscription to Telenav, which works on the 8530.

VZ Navigator and Telenav give voice turn-by-turn directions, in addition to maps.

i have cricket wireless on my old phone i had gps but i cant find it on my blackberry through my service

Black Berry Curve 8530 does support GPS and allows all kinds of GPS Applications for major Carriers like Verizon Navigator, Tele Nav for Curve 8530 but it does not support GPS on T- Mobile Version.

No voice in BB maps but pressing N(next) or P (previous) will show a turn by turn progression after the route has been mapped.
