I just realized that you were talking about the 8530 on the Verizon network. I have the 8530 through Sprint and have the really nice Sprint Navigation GPS system. So far, I love it!

SprintNAV is great, I use it all the time. It's a nice perk.

I have a Sprint 8530 and Google Maps is always at least 800-1200+ meters away from my actual location. Anyone know when this will be fixed?

You might try the Google Mobile forums. It's up to Google to make it work and they never seem to say anything.

Half off topic question hope you guys dont mind...

Does GPS use data..? I'm quite oblivious to what uses data.
Lets say I use BBMaps and my 8530's GPS... will that count as data if it shows where i am/the map?

GPS itself doesnt use data. But the type of programs we have, like BBMaps and Google Maps, uses data to load the map information. So on things like cell phones, GPS and data sort of go hand in hand unless you have a native app like how iPhone's have a TomTom app where the maps are stored on the phone itself so it wouldn't need to use data to load them.

Agreed...Bing, BBMaps, Poynt, trapster, onmyway, etc all work to within an acceptable distance... Google & VZW haven't come to terms on curve devices, if I'm not mistaken google maps works on non-curve VZW devices...

With the apps that do work all permissions need to be allowed & some apps need assisted gps on or off...
