I've talked on my berry like 4 times. LOL I text like mad though! I don't know what I'd do (or how I'd get through my work day) without it. I mean, how else am I suppose to send dirty messages to my boyfriend? :-P

I seriously hope someone can explain to me why someone would
buy a phone, let alone a Blackberry, and use it only for texting, IM
and everything else under the sun except one of it's primary
functions: A TELEPHONE. I apologize in advance to all the
"I hate talking on the phone" types, but surely there are cheaper,
simpler and less involved appliances to accomplish non-voice
communication than a BlackBerry.

And if you can't address this question in a civil, non flaming,
non d-head fashion, do everyone a favor and move on in
total silence. I am not looking for a flame war, just insight.

I agree. Most of my clients/customers would rather receive a phone call because it's personal. I purchased an app called "EZ 3Way" (don't go there) and it is great for a quick conference call. Nothing against texting, I choose to utilize "all" of the funtions. This is JMHO. Thanks for putting it out there AG

Since I'm Deaf, I cannot talk on the phone. So I only use SMS, MMS, BBM, IM's and email.

It's so hard for me to be non D-headed... but I'll try.

Have you seen that commercial with Ozzy Osborne where nobody can understand him so he texts everything?

That's one reason I prefer text/email to talking. No no.. I don't mumble that I am the prince of darkness...

Reception is so terrible in a lot of hospitals that talking blows... people can't understand me, I can't hear them... that and I can't (don't want to) exactly carry on conversations in front of patients and nurses about MY personal business. I'm sure it's the same for a lot of people/professions. You don't want to advertise your own laundry, but you DO want to communicate.

Another good point. Thanks for that perspective. In my job I also have a few
communication needs that need to be "quiet" so I get this. But whenever
I have the chance I'd still rather talk than type
