move to one country from another - help please

Hello, I currently live in Ireland and that is were I purchased my BB Curve9300. I will be moving to America soon and my question is, what steps need to be taken so the BB will work over there and not on the 02 network??

your phone needs to be unlocked, if it locked to your carrier. that's the main thing, if its unlocked just pop in sim of at&t or tmobile when in united states. you might not be able to use 3G in america on one of the operators.

First where do i go to unlock the phone and do i need the code for later use??
2nd can i still BBM back over to Ireland and if so will there be extra cost??
Finally, with the charger that plugs in the outlet here can it be replaced with US charger??

once unlocked the phone is unlocked for life, contact local mobile shops for more info on that or check online.
you will need blackberry data plan when in America to use BBM, which will cost extra.
you can use American charger or if possible use your buddies charger if you have any in America.

Just unlock your phone & then when in the USA, use either AT&T or T-Mobile. I would suggest AT&T becuase you will be able to use both of their 3G frequency Bands vs T-Mobile USA where you will only be able to use one of their frequency bands.

Your Curve 9300 operates at frequencies of GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / HSDPA 1900 / 2100 Mhz.

Don't know where you got your 3G frequencies from. This link shows them as 900-1800.

Of course they can use the GSM bands but they are slow.

Quick Google/wikipedia search to get frequency bands.

I've used Berry's in Various countries in atleast 3 continents & that's always worked for me. I just find what carriers are in those countries & then google "carrier name frequency bands" and make sure their numbers match what RIM says the phone can use.

Ok so they use the 2100 UMTS Spectrum for 3G. The phone could be either a 900/1700/2100 or 850/1900/2100 version phone. So he will be able to get either ATT or TMo in North America. The other link was wrong about the 3G Spectrum.

So yes just unlock it and put in a sim from which ever company has the same remaining frequencies for your phone. Yes there are 2 version of that phone.
