Don't be scared! Its all good. I do it all the time.

And many others do too. Any mini usb charger works just as well as the BB one.

I've even charged my PS3 controller with my bb chager when it was dead because I couldn't find the chord. Haha

For wall chargers, I'd definitely make sure that the output voltage was 5V before using it on my Berry.

As shown you obviously can.. use this to know that aftermarket No-name products work JUST as well. Why spend $20 on a BB brand usb cable when you can buy a no-name one for ~#5? Aftermarket accessories, as long as the same plug, should work without a hiccup.
