Default Data Usage

The current data plan I have gives me 10mb of data per month. I only plan on using this for email. I use shangmail, because I don't have a blackberry data plan. I get maybe 5-10 emails a day max. I turned pictures off. Will 10mb be enough?

Depends on the size of those emails. For me, that could be gone in one email.

You also need to keep in mind, unlike using BIS, you will be constantly polling to check for emails, and you're data isn't going to be compressed. I couldn't imagine living within the constraints of 10Mb per month, but only you know your usage and can judge.

I also see you have a PlayBook. Are you on Wi-Fi most of the time? That would reduce your needs greatly.

That's hard to answer. But I can help you answer it though. Check and see how big your averrage email is. ???kbsx5x30 /1024=??mbs. ??mbsx2=10 emails a day. That will be your range.

Well, I certainly won't be downloading any attachments. How can I tell the size of an e-mail? I guess that it what I need to know. Also, my tour does not have wifi

I can't imagine how using less than 10mb a month would even be possible! I'm sure it is somehow but I again just can't imagine.

10MB is not that much, Blackberry is good to save data but, 10MB is very low, I think you will need more if you are going to use it daily

I'd up the plan a bit, just to cover yourself. Honestly, I can't imagine using only 10 MB a month; I easily burn that (and much more) in a day. Granted I understand you won't be doing any extra browsing.

I can't put my mind around a carrier offering a plan that small. Is that the $5 deal? I've hit >10Gb many times over the years.

I remember Cingular used to offer a pland like that years ago, I think in 2005, and of course it was only on feature phone, I think even back then it was too small for a smartphone.

No, I won't be doing that- it is in the actual messenger application. I mean, a text really is not much information as far as data goes. It seems like it would be far less. But it's not. I guess I just don't know how much it is using just checking for messages.

10mb? Wow. I've used more than that in the past 5 minutes.
