Can work read my emails?

I had a blackberry curve work phone. They gave me the phone, I made an email account on it. I'm wondering now if they were able to read my emails?

Does that apply to any email you receive or just the one that's part of the BES. For instance, if you receive emails on your blackberry from hotmail or gmail or other sources, are they archived as well?

Safe to assume a company issued berry is completely 100% monitored by the company. Hope you aren't gonna get in trouble.
