Default Bump charging needed?

Hey everyone. I have a VZW 9930 and I didn't really pay it attention when I first got the device but I've now noticed my battery plummets down in the first hour of use generally to the 85-90% range. This is strange to me because I've had BlackBerry devices before and never had this issue. I've also had an htc Incredible and know that most Android devices have the same issue and they resolve it by bump charging.

A guy on an Android site did a test and found out the cause was that once the phone reached 100% charged it started pulling power from the battery although it was still plugged into the wall. If this is the case with the new BB devices then that would be a problem with:

1. BlackBerry devices charging super fast now
2. Most devices being charged overnight meaning they can be sitting for 6-8 hours

Just wondering if I have a faulty device or if its something everyone is experiencing.

Currently on the official 7.1 build.

I was reading somewhere that if the device is on when the battery is done charging, the load might draw from the battery. To avoid this, to get a full charge, charge with the device off.

I don't think it's that big of a deal, but the article I was reading was talking about "parasitic" load when the device is left on while charging. I've been shutting it off while it charges overnight, and it does seem to render a slightly better (i.e. longer lasting) charge, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to leave it on if I wanted to use bedside mode. The difference isn't that great.

I wonder why they changed.
