The battery life has been pretty good considering how much I'm on my device. I can't give an accurate comparison because my Torch was having serious battery issues, so anything better than that seems like a major win.

Nothing could probably top the battery life of the last generation of BlackBerrys not even the current BB 7 phones.

Someone once said "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public". Hmm. There is some sense in those words. Isn't also amazing how we evolved to smaller and smaller phones with more power because this is what we wanted? Now we are migrating to larger and larger phones? As individuals we like what we like and cell phones are certainly no different. My preference? Obviously BB. It has a certain charm and style that works for me. Not that the others wouldn't. When I purchased my current phone (9810) most of the ATT salespeople were using BB at the three stores in south Miami I visited. Most of my colleagues in the business and government worlds use BB. They seem to be happy and productive. There will always be a place for a BB preference. To all others enjoy your selections. Its just a phone folks!

Hi,

I've just shifted to the 9780 from the Bold 9000.

My wireless sync with google calendar does not work. I've tried speaking to Vodafone but they dont have an answer.

If I switch the wireless sync off (its not working anyway), is there a way I can force a sync, like I did periodically with the Bold 9000, to keep my BB calendar uptodate.

Thanks.

Nitish

Arrow Why I'm saying goodbye to BB after six years

My thoughts are posted here:

Why I'm giving up the BlackBerry ghost, or A Technology Company That isn't a Technology Company

Told my work to get out out of the my BB9780. I got an android device. Samsung Galaxy sII. this is light years ahead of BB in terms user interface/OS, apps ( i miss these from my iphone days), bigger screen. setting up email was a breeze a lot easier than BB for which I had to call IT. Could not be happier these day. Good bye blackberry. Don't let the door hit ya!!!

I switched from my BB to a Samsung Infuse last week. Couldn't be happier!!!!!! I don't know why I waited so long to change. I guess change is always difficult.

I had been toying with the idea of switching to Android or iOS as I was really getting more and more disappointed with BB and their current lineup. I was also getting really annoyed with my current BB, random reboots and spinning clocks...

Was a BB user for the past ~4 years and really thought about hanging in longer but I couldn't handle my BB phone any longer. Bought a PlayBook too and was sincerely excited about OS 2.0. However its still not here..... and RIMM won't even say when it will be out. If that weren't enough, after travelling to Hawaii last week and not being able to use Netflix or chat with my wife via Skype while I was in the airport really did it for me. Icing on the cake was watching the Superbowl on a fellow passenger's iPad because my PB wouldn't load it as Silverlight was used to stream it. I was also fedup with my browser and FB app crashing all the time. I just gave up and gave the tablet to my mom.

To say I am absolutely stoked about my Infuse is an understatement!!! Beautiful screen, awesome app catalog, endless customization, cheaper hardware price when compared to BB hardware, decent battery life....

I wish all current BB users the best, as well as RIMM in general but I think they have a tough road ahead of them. Google RIMM and see the headlines: Halliburton and NOAA replacing BB with iPhones, stock analyst recommending to sell RIMM stick... I think the new CEO was given the keys to a ride in pretty bad shape and was asked to win the race.

Peace out...

After using an 8820 as my first ever BB device I was really impressed with it's notification and push email capabilities. But then after getting the first iPhone I just couldn't put up with the old BB OS even though I really missed it's LED notification and excellent email features. Last year when the Bold 9900 was released I loved it's beautiful sleek design and ditched my Nexus S for it.

Sadly after using it for just about a week I noticed it's poor hardware quality as there was a gap between the screen and top bezel and I could hold it at an angle and see the inside of the phone! Then after about a month of use the proximity sensor crapped out on me and during calls I could never access the screen menu, I did the battery pull and even reset the phone back to factory state but still nothing. Finally I decided to just get rid of it and got myself a Sony Xperia Mini Pro. I never thought the Bold 9900 which is the flagship would have such poor hardware quality especially after using the 8820 which was very well made.

One good thing about the Xperia Mini Pro is that it has the LED notification light that doesn't shut off after 5 mins like the BB did. You had to pay for an app in order to keep that LED light going on the BB for longer. Don't know why that wasn't an option put in by RIM as default. I think I'm pretty much done with BB as it just seems like a company that isn't even trying to improve. Sad.

Just saying but the default time is 15 mins before the led stops. The only need for an app is to change the colors.

In the last 2 months;

My boss went from a BlackBerry Torch to an Iphone 4S

My wife went from a 9780 to an Iphone 4S

My son went from a 9700 to an Iphone 4S (despite my encouragement to go Nexus)

Sad times for BlackBerry... Everyone one of them raves about their new experience compared to BlackBerry.

I still carry a 9900 for work, but have a Samsung Galaxy Note for personal use. The Note does so much more and everything better. BlackBerry better figure this out quick or it ain't going to be pretty.

Last year i manage to give three Androids a try just test the waters of another platform. Having to keep my bb as a work phone, all of the phones i tried were basically used as entertainment devices.
First part of 2011 it was the Optimus V. Loved the bigger 3.2" screen it had over the Curve. The os was pretty much stock Android so it handled most apps very well considering it was a low end device when it was released. After a few months of use i still couldnt get the hang of typing in landscape mode so i just used the swype keyboard anytime i need to type. Overall I thought it was a major upgrade over my bb.
Just after mid year i got the Motorola Triumph. I'd still be using this phone if didnt promise it to a family member. Nice 4.1 screen that was able to run flash in the web browser. Loved it and really hated to see it go.
Right after Halloween i bought what i thought to be the best Android that i could afford. It was to hard decide between the MyTouch 4g Slide or the LG G2x. Although i really wanted to try out a Android with a keyboard, inwent with the G2x because the specs. seemed little better. Three and anhalf months later and im still enjoying this phone. Currently running about 20 widgets plus a live wallpaper and i cant seem to slow this phone down any. Sharp 4" screen for using my favorite apps, games, and videos. Then being able to turn it into a mobile hotspot for my Playbook makes it that much better. Sure the random restarts and just under average battery life is a drag, but i think its a fair trade considering all the features it has.
I could never give up my qwerty keyboard, but until the BB 10 devices with the keyboards are released i'd say i have the best of both worlds using those two phones.
