Do you listen to the music player on your BlackBerry 10 or do you use your ipod/phone for your music? I have noticed that the volume and audio quality is much better on my iphone, so lately I've been carrying both devices. On the other hand I do save battery power on my z10

I use my iPod touch. I got the new one that came out in October, so it's still pretty new and I really like it. I also don't really like using my BlackBerry for music because it runs down my battery, and I'd be much more annoyed if my BlackBerry were dead all day than if my iPhone were.

I also use my iPod for games and stuff. I don't know, I feel like iOS devices are just good at being basic little devices. They're pretty handy.

A friend had me check out the new iPod for her and tell her my opinions. TBH I was so impressed with it I got one for myself! I only had it for a few weeks though. The sound quality was indeed good (loved the new earpods!) and the device was very snappy. Ultimately, though, I returned it. It was just too basic, and I couldn't justify spending nearly $300 for it, when I could do the same things (besides certain apps, of course) on my Z10.

    Ditto.

I refuse to carry two devices if I can help it.

The music player on the Z10 is very very poor. No EQ, beyond annoying to make a play list and generally sub par.

The music player on the 9900 is miles better than the Z10/Q10 player.

Are there third-party apps that can fill the gap?

Yup, sound quality is poor especially since I'm using my beats headphones. I bought the neutron music player from bbworld but it is too complicated and eq is not all that impressive.

I use my phone now. I have an ipod and I haven't touched it since I got my Z10. I don't have a great deal of music on it, but I use 8Tracks and and other radio apps on it and it's fantastic. Can't go back.

I use the music player on my Z10 and I have to agree with a previous post that the music player on bold 9900 was way better even louder, but I usually have my bluetooth Sony me600 and battery life still pretty good even with hours of music and heavy usage.

Also an advantage to the z10 is the sd card capability. I bought the 64gb sd and now I have my entire iTunes library on my z10. That is great!

Well atleast there's the headphone boost option, without it the sound would be extremely low.

My 19 year old daughter uses a ipod and a 9900. Has lost 2 Ipods. In the last 3 months. Asked her why she doesn't put her music on her phone and use just it. Look at me like with a total blank look. Never crossed her mind to use just her phone which is always in her hand. Of coarse pluging it in at night doesn't make sense to her either. She just gets upset when it dies during the day.

I still use my iPod in the car and while I'm at the gym. I'd rather kill off the battery on the iPod rather then my Z10 but on the odd occasion when I do listen to music on the Z10, with my Beats, I find the sound quality to be fine. No complaints here.

As some others have said, there are some. id rather not throw names about for them as I haven't tried so wouldn't know where to start.

Personally for me the need to use my phone for music has dropped a lot now, got a new car that doesnt have a tape player or line in (my old car - a lexus soarer - had a tape player, so had a line in adapter and used me phone) so im on cd`s at the moment. that said, steering wheel controls work, which they wouldn't if it was on my phone lol, so win some lose some haha

true, but audio boost is in BBOS and PlayBook, so its hardly `new` to BB, but yes if that wasn't there it wouldn't be good at all

I've been using my iPod for music but now that the warmer weather is coming and I won't have a coat pocket to stick my iPod into I want to try using my Z10 for music as well. I just ordered a pair of Klipsh 4Si headphones because I read elsewhere that the controls work on the Z10 (I have the Klipsh 4S without the controls for my iPod).

Any tips on transferring my itunes collection over to my Z10's SD card? I might just transfer over everything from my Amazon cloud instead of my whole itunes collection since it has everything I bought in the past few years.

You would have to transfer via BlackBerry Link. I hate that I'm not able to drag and drop onto the BlackBerry Link from iTunes.

Agreed...the only thing I hated about that application is how it would stutter whenever you multitask.

I listen to music at work on my Z10. I actually want the cheapest mp3 player I can find, say at Walmart, for exercising.

I have my iTunes linked to BlackBerry Link. Just select the song in Link and transfer pretty easy. All songs/albums saved to memory card.

The UI for the media player on the Z10 kinda sucks, but I think the sound quality is crystal clear. Best sound quality I have heard from media card

The only reason i used my Ipod was for podcasts but once I downloaded the podcast app for my Z I turned that expensive paper weight in.
