My first was a red Curve 8530. I loved it and that is when my interest in BlackBerry started.

That was about 5 years ago. And it still works!

My first phone as a very reluctant female teenager (yes that happens) was a flip motorola so my mom could keep in touch in case of emergency. Had that beater for almost 8 years.

My next phone turned me into a Blackberry girl, although how is a special story.

It was a Blackberry World Phone. I know that name is odd, thank you Alltel, but oh that thing was a beast. I got signal everywhere. In the basement, in the schools, in a cavern deep in the Earth, Amish country... always my BlackBerry was the one with signal. Taking a hike with friends? The BlackBerry was on designated duty, all other phones, all without signal were relegated to the glove box. This beast could take over the world.

Unfortunatly it did not last long for reasons we won't go into. And yet... I was hooked.

Do to financial starving college student reasons when it came finding a new carrier and phone my options were limited. Galaxy Sapphire... slide phone with a key board. I went through 4 of those damn things. 4! The OS system kept corrupting the phones... as the replacements were "free" with my insurance plan I stayed with it for 4 more years.

When it came time to get a 5th sinful Samsung Galaxy Sapphire from Hell I fleed! Actually they just said they would not longer replace it as it was discontinued and as I discovered none of their other phones had keyboards!!! By now I had enough money coming in to return to my true love.

The return to Blackberry was deep in my heart. I never forgot that world phone beast. I needed a keyboard. I needed a reliable phone. I needed a Blackberry.

I got a Blackberry Q10 and I've never looked back.

Sure other millenial friends ask me, "Hey girl, why don't you have an iphone?" Other look at my Q10 in abject fear, "It's so ugly. Can you even get apps on that?" Allow me to roll my eyes here.

But this Blackberry and me, we're tight. Keep your iphone, I'll take my keyboard'n radio beast'n reliable to the bowels of the Earth "Old man phone." Because when you are tragically unable to tweet your lunch with an instagram selfie of that pasta because your battery died 4 hours into this roadtrip and you forgot your charger... Q10 will be here. Rocking out with 90% power.

So go ahead and say it, "Can I use your phone?"

    Yes. Yes you may.

My old 8320 is all beat up looking from being dropped so much but it still works for prepaid calls and texting. It just needed a new trackball a couple of years ago.
