Frankly, I agree. A lesson can be learned from Nexus devices. Those devices were really niche devices until the Nexus 4 came out with it's pricing scheme, and people grabbed them up. People are willing to pay a premium for Galaxy devices and iPhones, but not many others, I'm afraid.

Not to be Donnie Downer here, but the Nexus 4 doesn't sell like hell. It sells, but certainly not in anything approaching company-reviving numbers. And it doesn't have an ecosystem problem.

$200 top on Z10 unlocked as being re-tiered into an "entry device". Not likely to happen though, because that will eat into Thor's $55 million dollar payout somehow?

i think 150- 200 is the correct price. sorry, but ppl would not pay 300 for a device they have no idea about and with no eco system. they already wrote off the one billion, so whatever they sell now is counted toward revenue. better than it taking up space. do what HP did with the touchpad. maybe then ppl would start developing apps for BB

I think this may be too high. The highest I would suggest is cost. They need market penetration to bring service revenue, in demand apps and hopefully create demand for higher spec devices. $300 is still too high to accomplish that IMO.

The key right now is to get BlackBerry 10 devices to as many hands as possible, eat the losses, borrow money from the bank, whatever. A suggestion that has been made ad nauseum. But hey, that would make too much sense for BlackBerry management, can't allow that to happen.

Sorry, that's just the way it goes. May be free app bundles for those who bought early might sweeten it.

And the PlayBook wasn't? You confuse BlackBerry with a company that values keeping customers happy. Right now they are just a bunch of confused monkeys up in Waterloo flinging poo at the walls and seeing what sticks.

In Colombia, there are people selling the Z10 for U$ 380 new and unlocked on internet, i just saw yesterday and one of the vendors already sold like 300 units, if it is pricey right, they can sell a lot of them.

Didn't work for the PlayBook, Z10 will go the same way. I own both, they're great devices. Unfortunately, with little attraction to the masses.

If they come up with a good marketing strategy, maybe it could work, but I believe vox populi has spoken. They don't want it.

For those Crackberrians who think BlackBerry priced the Z10 wrong, you're wrong. They marketed the Z10 quite bad and price is just a part of that. We have no insight in the marketing strategy, so it is not really possible to provide any suggestions on how they might have succeeded. We can only conclude that their plan failed. And now it's time for plan B.

Regardless of how well it sells, since there's nothing stopping them from fire sale-ing the Z10, they should go ahead and do it. They've already taken the write down. That was so enormous, they'd probably still show some (accounting) profit next quarter after a fire sale. Hell, blow them out at $99.

Do you want to compare z10 sales with the nexus?

I have both and can tell you that the only thing the z10 has over the nexus is the expendable memory. But the android os with all its apps offers "more" for the money even if priced equally.

Z30 should be at $500 max. Z10 should be at $250. Then Q10 is at $300. Unlocked and direct from BlackBerry. It may help BlackBerry to sell like hell.

    Z30 - $400
    Z10 - $200
    Q10 - $250

Sell them all unlocked at those prices at the userbase problem solves itself. Of course there are other pieces to that puzzle but it's a good start toward actually introducing people to the platform.

    Unlocked price in my perception:

    Z10 300 or less
    Q5 275 or less
    Q10 500 or less
    Z30 600 or less

I don't think they will sell like hell but I guess at those prices they will get an steady flow, I'm not a market expert but those would be my bids if I have to buy one.
