BB10 is very simplistic and basically the HUB and messaging are the only parts where you can feel any real OS interaction.

From my point of view, yes BB10 is boring. This is not necessarily bad but it's kind of a fact. The only thing that is even more boring is iOS.

Messaging and the HUB is no small component - it is the heart of the device. Add to that the file manager, sharing, and cloud storage integration and you have a very fluid, powerful OS right out of the box - impossible on any other platform without third party apps.

Yes, it's utilitarian BUT, it's good.

Want: Themes, graphical nuances such as how in OS5 the icons on the home screen light up with a little animation when scrolling between them is a small, probably overlooked, but nice touch, toss up to close apps (have side scrolling for more active frames rather than vertical to allow this), ability to touch the battery icon to put the device in standby or power down via on screen controls a la the PlayBook, desktop mode in the browser as a quicker accessed feature same as the private browsing mode has become, someone else here had mentioned a way to bring up a cursor like as a triple tap on the keyboard on the Passport - I would like that too, swipe back and forth on capacitive keypad to go between web pages, play by music folder in music player, videos to keep playing when minimized, ability to have a quick setting on Passport to switch to Q device resolution (make the icons and fonts quickly larger on screen), virtual keyboards available with diagnol or two finger swipe up for pkb devices, back swipe on screen with q devices to delete a whole word.. These are just a few ideas

In my opinion, the BB10 UI is boring. It was boring at launch, and it is still boring today. The reason why I find it boring is there is no home screen in the traditional sense. Instead of going home to a customizable home screen, with BB10 you go to either an app drawer or a task switching view.

Even the BlackBerry Storm 9530 had better UI options in my opinion. With it, you could have a honest to goodness home screen, an app drawer and a multi-tasking view. The Storm could even have empty spaces between app icons without the use of a 3rd party app and could fully be used in both landscape and portrait mode.

It is crazy to think that BB10 still can't do so many useful things that even what many consider to be the worst BlackBerry ever made can do.

Ans also, please don't start with all these nonsense animations. They'll just slow down your phone. This is one of the reasons why android smartphones can't do the exactly same tasks they once managed to do.

I'm fine with the 10.3 OS design, although initially I didn't like it (being too white). What I'd like is not just a dark hub option, but global theme control. Even if it's just color schemes and not customizable, that'd be fine. I'd like to see a light, dark, auto (uses light sensor to detect if light or dark). Then in apps, they can have the default app theme (whatever that is), or choose light, dark, auto, or global (global being the selection set for the OS). That way you still have control over individual app appearances but also have a global setting you can simply use.

I'd have really liked some TAT-inspired design, which could have been optional. Not going to see that now. Remember the parallax scrolling effect for the wallpaper that never happened? Little UI flourishes like that could really help.

That's true, and I'm not opposing any of your statements. Can't deny it is a great OS with a very strong focus on productivity, otherwise I wouldn't prefer it over the choice of other products. Nevertheless, it is a boring platform in my opinion.

In a way they wouldn't, 10.3 introduces the Application Theme, adding native theming would mess it all up for devs who have used the colouring (Me included)
