No, you must download the IM application on your device, how else will you get it on there?
Not that I know of
Not w/o installing it on the bb at least

That's odd, I just followed that link on my BB and got a message that it is an invalid address. I also tried it with just an m.yahoo etc too. Also, doesn't it still install software? I think the OP was looking for a way to use Yahoo Messenger without downloading software to their BB. That was my understanding anyway.

What I do is sign in on my computer and then sign out to my BB phone number. It automatically signs you out after 24 hours and you have to do it again, however there is no software required to do it that way. It can be set up in your Yahoo preferences.

Link works okay here? No idea......
I'll give it another try then. I have to admit that I was surprised that it didn't work because I have never seen inaccurate info from you before.

Uhhh Are you serious? I make half a dozen mistakes just signing into CB :)
I will check the link from my lappy....or just remove it.... works ok here on 3 pc's, no idea.... though I removed it as it has no benefit to the OP
Went directly from my BB and got this message
" mobile
Please check back
It's unclear whether Yahoo! mobile, the starting point to the mobile Internet, will be available on your device. Our device database is updated constantly, so please check back in 1 to 2 weeks.
As general guidelines:
Recent phone models will likely support Yahoo! mobile
Devices purchased before 2005, will likely not"
I guess they want me to have the entire package and not just the IM. Not happening LOL The mobile is such a memory hog.

Don't ya know you are my hero? ;) We seem to always be posting the same info very close to each other on most threads.

Hero? You poor thing...I think Jazzi had to much sugar on the cereal this morning. :)
Aye, yes I have seen that we have posted on common threads several times recently..
Jazzi, I've had Yahoo messenger on mine since day 2, haven't had any problems with it and it's on almost 24/7. It doesn't make things any slower for me. My only leaker now seems to be Capture It.

You are not alone: I deleted CI the other night for the same suspicions. Things were acting oddly and I could only pinpoint it to that. Of course none of my "guru" friends agreed but that is beside the point - when it was removed all systems we ready for battle :D
Good catch! I have that on mine and my BB has really been lower on memory than I like it to be. I don't even know why I installed Capture It, I've never even used it :o... I guess that's gone now...LOL I just did a battery pull and still didn't get much memory back so I'm getting rid of Capture It.
Thanks so much for the tip!

unless you have verizon ...they have the app loaded to the phone
but it kinda sucks i downloaded yahoo im to my berry and it works good never has a problem yet
BlackBerry - Yahoo Messenger
That's a new one for me too Trem, i've had Capture It since the day of release and have suffered no ill effects from it. One thing I have noticed in my time here is keep an eye out for certain issues, some are device specific only. Like the 8330 owners will experience an issue with a theme or a 3rd party app while other device owners are fine, also some OS's don't play nice with a certain device or application...
I load my apps one at a time and watch how my Curve acts. If I see oddball trends, I may reset a few times, but generally I'll dump it if it's more trouble than it's worth.

Yes it could be a device specific issue - you are right (of course). Thought of that actually. My friend who uses it on his phone has no issues (as well as hundreds of others) but I dunno. They think I am wrong, I know they are wrong, at least when it comes to my phone. :)
