I was in the same situation. Ended up taking the iPhone from work and buying a Z30 since the Passport is not available on Verizon.

I would get a Z30 for now and pester Verizon until they decide to carry the Passport.

Sell the 6 for a passport, if you can.

Then, tell your company it was stolen by a band of crazed kids who targeted you for the phone. They had Tim Cook masks on for holloween, and you were lucky to get away.

    That's what I would do.

I get a partial reimbursement added to my check. It's a win-win. I get whatever device I want, on whatever carrier, and it's my device. I also don't have to worry about paying extra taxes if I make a personal call on a company phone.

But, if I was being given a phone, I'd take the iPhone.

I would take the iPhone 6, it's just easier especially if you do international travel. If it is fully company paid, you also save yourself $60-80/month or so that you could use to buy yourself something nice.

But I'm cheap...I'll take whatever the company gives me. Unfortunately, the company I work at does not offer any BB10 devices...so no Passport for me.

So you are paying for a plan and an extra phone... that's tough to do (for me at least)

Take the iPhone only if there are special Company apps that you need to use. Take the Passport otherwise - especially for Work.

If the choice is iPhone or any other phone always pick other phone. Especially when it is a passport.

I passed on an option to get a Samsung Galaxy and bought my own Z10 last year. I don't hate android, I develop on it frequently for work, but I prefer the Z10, with the gestures.

Get the iPhone for free and then sell it and buy a Passport (assuming this is OK with your employer). If your company is paying for your monthly charges, then I'd say go with the phone they will pay for monthly.

I used to have both work and personal on one phone but I just want them separate. Blasted company refused to pay even a little towards the plan so I just ate the cost of the second phone/plan. My petty revenge is to keep the phone with crappy coverage for work.

Take the free phone. Why wouldn't you? And get the Passport if you want it, at the cheapest package or pay to go or whatever. Life is short. Unless it is too fiscally imprudent to do so or the money really should go somewhere else, nothing wrong with indulging yourself once in a while.

Tell your company to switch from Iphone 6+ to BlackBerry Passport because Passport is for work not for play plus Passport is more productive than any other phones. The company should thank you for this since every company wants their employees to be more productive. Well, unless your company is Facebook or Google that have so much money and don't care about productivity, just let them play more and work less.

Considering I went and bought the Passport on my own dime even though my company always provides my phone, my answer is pretty simple. The thing is, after they saw the Passport they reimbursed my anyway. So it was a win win.

My question for you is, can you not take the free company paid iPhone and still buy a Passport for yourself?

Any company worth their salt would toss that request out unless you provide data backing your assertions, and you wouldn't make yourself look very knowledgeable either. Opinions and preferences are fine but actual data helps sell your argument.

Google and Facebook employ among the best and brightest out there. I somehow suspect they are rather productive companies (even though I don't love their business models).
